Veterans Book Club aims to bring together veterans of all eras to talk about military experiences and readjustment to civilian life while providing an informal, supportive environment for discussion. Here’s how it works:

Dominion Energy Veterans Guitar Workshop Series

Have you always wanted to try the guitar, or are you looking for tips to improve your technique? Musicians of all skill levels are invited to participate in an eight-week series of virtual lessons. These teleworkshops will take place Tuesday evenings, and are FREE to Veterans, Servicemembers, military family members, and military caregivers.

Virtual Toastmaster Meeting for the Military and Veteran Communities

Join the Steven A. Cohen Clinic at Easterseal for virtual toastmasters meetings for the Military and Veteran Communities. 

Smart Phone Photography Workshop Series

Join the Hylton Performing Art Center for this smartphone photography course exploring the techniques, tricks, and tips to make beautiful photos. By using all features and controls of the smartphone camera, you will gain a greater understanding of various light situations and compositions. This workshop series is FREE and open to Veterans, Servicemembers, military family members, and military caregivers above the age of 18. 

GMU Military, Veterans, & Families Initiative

Veterans struggle with alcohol and drug use problems at higher rates than non-veterans. Some of these struggles are linked with higher rates of PTSD and other disorders. In this installment of the “Veterans’ Lived Experience” webinar series, George Mason’s Military, Veterans, & Families Initiative is partnering with the Veterans Health and Wellness Foundation are partnering to bring you personal stories of struggle with substance misuse, as well as resources and help from Dr. Patti Ferssizidis, a licensed clinical psychologist with expertise in substance use disorders prevention and treatment.

Veteran Zoom Chronic Pain Support Group

We want to let everyone know about the US Pain Foundation’s new group for military and veterans. This group meets on the 1st Thursday of every month and will be facilitated by Katie Benson, Coast Guard veteran and trained U.S. Pain Foundation leader. 

VETOGA Yoga with Nahaku McFadden

VETOGA’s mission is to provide yoga, meditation, and healing arts to military, veterans, first responders, their families, and communities. Come and bring a friend to this monthly no cost yoga class! After class, members of VETOGA go to Starbucks Van Dorn for coffee, tea, and community. Please join them to meet fellow veterans, military, military spouses, first responders, and those who support the military community.

Veterans and the Arts Initiative: Ukulele Workshop Series

Have you always wanted to try the ukulele? Musicians of all skill levels are invited to participate in a four-week series of virtual lessons with Glen McCarthy, guitar instructor at George Mason University. These tele workshops will take place Tuesday evenings, and are FREE to Veterans, Servicemembers, their families, and military caregivers – as well as to current healthcare workers.
