    Join Hiring Our Heroes for a job fair for service members, veterans, and military spouses at Nationals Park in Washington, DC. Wednesday, September 6, 2017 to Thursday, September 7, 2017. All registered veterans and military spouses are eligible to receive up to two free tickets to attend that evening’s game between the Nationals and the Phillies. The night before the hiring fair, please join the Hiring Our Heroes Military Spouse Program for a networking reception in at Capital One Headquarters in McLean, VA. Connect with recruiters from local and national businesses, community leaders, and local professionals, participate in mentoring sessions, and receive a complimentary professional LinkedIn profile photo.

  • Paid Internship with Warrior Canine Connection

    WCC will offer a one-year paid Internship for Veterans and Military Family Members. The goal of the Internship is for all participants to acquire the knowledge, skills and attitudes to work as Mobility Service Dog Trainers with proficiency in WCC’s Mission Based Trauma Recovery model.

    Join the USO as we host a speed networking event for military spouses in the Washington D.C. military community. On Thursday, August 17th from 9:30 AM – 1:30 PM at the Fort Belvoir USO, you’ll have the opportunity to learn about USO Programs, discuss the art of networking, and network with other military spouses, local employers and community leaders.   • Blue Star Cares Avatar Toolkit Training – Aug 24

    Are you a caregiver? Don’t miss this unique opportunity! The caregiving team at Blue Star Families is evaluating how well an avatar-based training program can help military-connected caregivers improve their overall health and wellbeing and provide better care to their wounded warrior. If you’re a military-connected caregiver who is caring for a wounded warrior and over the age of 18, you’re invited to participate in this research study. You will receive a half day training and lunch will be provided.

    The USO of Metropolitan Washington-Baltimore invites active duty servicemembers and dependents to come out to our Supermarket Sweeps! DATE: July 12th TIME: 10AM until the food runs out! LOCATION: USO-Metro Warehouse (9455 Jackson Loop, Ft. Belvoir, VA 22060). Come out to the warehouse with your empty grocery bags and we will fill them with fresh produce and other treats!

  • Longitudinal Caregivers Study Seeks Participants

    Do you care for a service member or veteran who had a TBI after October 2001 while serving in the military? If so, you may be eligible to participate in a study requested by Congress. The study is currently recruiting family members, friends, or significant others who help a service member or veteran who had a traumatic brain injury after October 2001 while serving in the military.

    Serve Our Willing Warriors is growing and we have been approved to construct an additional home on our land. This will enable SOWW to serve two services members and their families simultaneously. With this approval comes the need for more dedicated volunteers.

  • VEI Vetworking – June 21 & 28

    The Northern Virginia Technology Council’s Veteran Employment Initiative next VEI Vetworking program will be held on June 21 & 28 at MITRE in McLean, VA. This free VETWORKING program provides Veteran and military spouse jobseekers with career transition education and personal growth experiences to succeed in seeking civilian employment. This takes a deeper dive into job seeking areas where your military transition assistance class did not go. VETWORKING is a personal development program combining elements of networking and mentoring and connects transitioning service members, Veterans and their spouses with a support team. Through small group interactions, VETWORKING facilitates a job seeker’s development of career search skills and empowers them through the support of fellow job seekers and professional mentors.
