Join Operation Gratitude in Preparing 25,000 Care Pouches

Operation Gratitude in partnership with our BRIDGE Council will be assembling 25,000 Operation Gratitude Care Pouches that will be delivered to Law Enforcement Officers, Firefighters and National Guardsmen serving in our nation’s capital and in more than a dozen other cities across America. Southern Maryland Veterans Collaborative Convenes at Charlotte Hall

Charlotte Hall Veterans Home welcomed professionals from non-profits, local government, and businesses across Charles, St. Mary's, Prince George's, Calvert Counties and the District for 2018's final convening of the Southern Maryland Veterans Collaborative. The next meeting of the Southern Maryland Veterans Collaborative is 10 a.m. - 11:30 a.m. on February 7, 2019, at Charlotte Hall Veterans Home.

The Poetry of Memory Workshop November 17th

How do we create meaning from memory? The best poetry is written about what we know, and this class will look at how to successfully craft poems out of specific memories. This workshop will take place at the Capitol Post office (625 N Washington St. Ste #425, Alexandria, VA 22314) from 10 AM - 2 PM on Saturday, November 17.  There are a few spaces remaining for this workshop. The session is open to/free for all spouses of service members (active and reserve) and veterans. Applications required.

Operation Second Chance has launched a veteran mentor program. The program is designed to ensure the mental, physical and financial readiness of veterans and their families post separation or retirement from the military. Applications for both mentors and mentees are now being accepted.

Thank You for Your Service Documentary Screening

Join Hospice of Frederick County on Wednesday, 10/17 from 6 to 8 P.M. for a screening of "Thank You For Your Service", a powerful 2015 documentary by Tom Donahue that takes aim at the flawed mental health policies within the U.S. Military. The screening will be followed by a panel discussion of community mental health resources. This is a free event but space is limited and registration is recommended.

Virginia Department of Veteran Services - Virginia Veteran and Family Support has an upcoming marriage/relationship enrichment workshop for veteran couples being held in Leesburg this November. They are actively looking for couples to join the workshop.

Warriors to the Workforce

The American Freedom Foundation will host Warriors To The Workforce National Harbor (WTTW) presented in association with Easter Seals Veteran Staffing Network and in conjunction with the Air Force Association's 2018 Air, Space and Cyber Conference on Tuesday, September 18, 2018 at the the Gaylord National Resort & Convention Center in National Harbor, MD in the National Harbor Conference Room #10 from 0900 - 1400. Veterans, military service members and military spouses admission is free.  Registration is required.

Operation Homefront announces their newest housing program to support transitioning veterans and their families. This new initiative is designed to place military families in single family homes for a period of 2-3 years while to prepare them for independent home ownership.
