Thank You for Your Service Documentary Screening

Join Hospice of Frederick County on Wednesday, 10/17 from 6 to 8 P.M. for a screening of "Thank You For Your Service", a powerful 2015 documentary by Tom Donahue that takes aim at the flawed mental health policies within the U.S. Military. The screening will be followed by a panel discussion of community mental health resources. This is a free event but space is limited and registration is recommended.

FREE Mindful Meditation Workshops in Northern Virginia!

Neil Goodman, Veteran and Certified Meditation Instructor, with 26 years of meditation experience, is a Corporate Trainer and Massage Therapist. He is conducting FREE Mindfulness Mediation workshops in Northern Virginia and featuring the basics of Emotional Freedom Technique. These workshops are great for military, veterans and their families. He offers the workshops free of charge at local libraries this October.  

Veteran Resource Fair – November 8th

Disabled Veterans National Foundation is holding a Veterans Resource Fair on Thursday, November 8th from 9 AM - 2 PM in Silver Spring, MD. The event will feature employment services, resource booths, free food, free suits, comfort kits and gift cards. Walk-ins are accepted but but preregistration is recommended.

Conquering PTSD Event and Ride

Join American Heroes Motorcycle Association in partnership with Operation Engage America for a Conquering PTSD Event and Ride on Saturday, October 20th from 10:00 AM to 4:00 PM in Boonsboro, MD. Applications Being Accepted for The Platoon 22 Horse Experience

Applications are now being accepted for the November 2- November 4th Platoon 22 Horse Experience Program. The Platoon 22 Horse Experience is designed to provide Warriors the opportunity to become one with nature, network with other Warriors experiencing similar issues, PTS/TBI and most importantly, to connect with their own thoughts and emotions. No prior horse experience is necessary, just a willingness to feel better!

Behavioral Health and Suicidality in the Veteran Population

In honor of September as Suicide Prevention Awareness Month, the September 26th meeting of the Montgomery County Veterans Collaborative will feature a special presentation: Behavioral Health and Suicidality in the Veteran Population, presented by David Galloway, Western MD Regional Resource Coordinator for Maryland's Commitment to Veterans. Wednesday, September 26th from 2:00-4:00pm in Rockville, MD.

Free yoga classes offered to veterans and military families at the Steven A Cohen Military Family Clinic at Easterseals in Silver Spring, MD on Fridays from 12:00-1:00pm and on Saturdays from 10:00-11:00am. Free onsite parking and free child care provided. Space is limited. Please register online.

Military & Veteran Caregiver Wellness Workshop – Sept 21

On Friday, Sept. 21st, Hope For The Warriors will be holding a Military and Veteran Caregiver’s Wellness Workshop in Lorton, VA from 9:00 am to 3:00 pm. Travis Manion Foundation 9/11 Heroes Run

The 9/11 Heroes Run activates and unites communities to honor the sacrifices of those heroes from September 11th and the wars since, to include veterans, active duty, first responder, and families of the fallen. The 9/11 Heroes Run 5K +1M* fun run/walk welcomes runners and walkers of all levels and of all ages, volunteers, friends, and family. It is not about fitness level or experience but about activating, uniting, and honoring our heroes. Sunday, September 16, 2018 at 2pm in Annapolis, MD. Registration is required.
