Brookings: The Needs of Women Veterans Event

On March 12, Wounded Warrior Project will join Foreign Policy at Brookings to share data and insights gathered through engagements with nearly 5,000 female service veterans, as part of their Women Warrior Initiative. Representative Julia Brownley, chairwoman of the United States Veterans' Affairs Subcommittee on Health, will join Brookings Senior Fellow Michael O'Hanlon in a conversation on issues facing women veterans in the 117th Congress. Then, subject matter experts will discuss the unique needs facing women veterans regarding military to civilian transitions, access to care, mental health resources, military sexual trauma, and financial wellness.

Course for CHANGE

Is your service member three to five years away from the separation of service? Then a Course for CHANGE was designed for you the "SPOUSE". This series of workshops will provide a Course for CHANGE - a detailed road map designed to support needed for the transition as you consider your dreams, educational goals, or career path either in a job or as an entrepreneur.

Military Cultural Competency and Transition Awareness: Working with Service Members, Veterans, and their Families

This training provides an overview of military culture to include: Organizational structure, rank, branches of service, core values, and demographics, Similarities and differences between the Active Duty, Reserve, and National Guard components and their participation in current conflicts, Basic overview of combat-related disorders, military sexual trauma, and coping strategies, Strengths and stressors related to military life, deployment, and transition to civilian life for both military member and for the family, to include children, and an Overview of military and veteran suicide and prevention efforts. It is intended to assist state agencies, community partners, and behavioral health providers in better understanding, communicating, and effectively interacting with military members, veterans, and their families.

MASTERING LINKEDIN: SUMMER WEBINAR SERIES

USO Pathfinder extends the USO experience to plan for what's next after the military or map out the uncharted road that military spouses often encounter. This summer series is being offered through USO Pathfinder for Active Duty, military spouses, National Guard, Reserve, and recently separated veterans.

New Veteran Focused Toastmasters Chapter

Join the Steven A. Cohen Military Family Clinic and Toastmasters International for a demonstration meeting on Saturday, October 26th at 11:30 am to find out more about the soon to be formed Toastmasters Chapter specifically focused to include Veterans, Wounded Warriors, Transitioning Military, Caregivers and Friends. Toastmasters helps people become better communicators and leaders. It allows you to engage with people who share similar interests in a supportive and comfortable setting. It can be beneficial to persons transitioning to a new phase in their career. Come out to find out more and see if Toastmasters is a fit for you! Childcare available. NAMI Homefront Now Offered Online!

NAMI Homefront is a class for families, caregivers and friends of military service members and veterans with mental health conditions. The course is designed specifically to help these families understand those challenges and improve their ability to support their service member or veteran. Online modules of the courses are now being offered. Registration is now open form the April 15th course.

Corporate Gray Military Friendly Job Fair

Friday, March 29th at the Army Navy Country Club from 9:00 AM - 12:00 PM. Employer Panel Discussion at 8AM. Meet face-to-face with dozens of employers - small businesses, large businesses and government agencies. Visit the Corporate Gray website for a list of participating employers. This event is designed especially for transitioning and former military and family members seeking employment. Pre-registration recommended.

Thank You for Your Service Screening & Panel

Please join Soldierfit HQ and Hospice of Frederick County for a special one time showing of Thank You For Your Service on March 29th at 5pm at Soldierfit Frederick. There will be a private screening followed by a panelist discussion by resident experts and moderated by Danny Farrar. This is a free event open to the public. Registration is required.
