Arcadia Veteran Farm Program Recruiting

The Arcadia Veteran Farmer Program is recruiting for its next class of veterans, active duty and their family members to train in our year-long farmer training program in Alexandria, Va -- on land George Washington himself cultivated when he was a veteran. Two training tracks available. Applications for the Fellowship Program due by October 15th. Applications for the Reserve Program due by November 30th.

Veteran Improv Workshop

Introductory Improv for Military Veterans. Whether you have always wanted to step onstage and make an audience laugh, or the thought of speaking in public terrifies you; this class is for you. You will learn how to use improv to focus on using communication, collaboration, trust and acceptance as the central tools to generate creativity. Six Thursday evening sessions begin starting 9/19 from 7:00-9:00PM. This class is free to veterans. Registration is required.

Nominate a woman veteran today!

Nominations are now being accepted for Women Veterans Interactive's "Sisters in Service" Awards event that will take place on Saturday, November 9, 2019, from 7:30 pm. to 11:30 pm. in Falls Church, Virginia. The event is designed to shine the spotlight on and honor women veterans making an impact and substantial contributions to the woman veteran/military community. Deadline for submissions is 9/20/19.

Distinguished Service Awards Accepting Application

The Veterans & Military Business Council has opened Nominations for the 2019 Distinguished Service Awards. Applications accepted until Friday, September 20th. The Event will be held Tuesday, October 22nd 8am at the Army Navy Country Club in Arlington. Self-nominations are accepted!

Sound the Alarm Volunteer Opportunities

National Capital Region Home Fire Campaign by the Red Cross. The Home Fire Campaign helps save lives by installing free smoke alarms in homes that don't have them, and by educating people about home fire safety. The Red Cross has several opportunities to volunteer for this program throughout the National Capital Region. Please come out and join them as they help save lives in our communities.

Songwriting Workshop Series for Military Kids

Join Hylton Performing Arts Center for a 6-week series designed for military kids and teenagers where they will learn songwriting skills in a collaborative environment. This workshop series is FREE and open to military kids between the ages of 10 and 17. Space is limited.

The Wellness Recovery Action Plan® or WRAP®, is a self-designed prevention and wellness process that anyone can use to get well, stay well and make their life the way they want it to be. It was developed in 1997 by a group of people who were searching for ways to overcome their own mental health issues and move on to fulfilling their life dreams and goals. It is now used extensively by people in all kinds of circumstances, and by health care and mental health systems all over the world to address all kinds of physical, mental health and life issues.

Hopeful Strategies for Senior Hoarding – CEU Event
