Applications Being Accepted for The Platoon 22 Horse Experience

Applications are now being accepted for the November 2- November 4th Platoon 22 Horse Experience Program. The Platoon 22 Horse Experience is designed to provide Warriors the opportunity to become one with nature, network with other Warriors experiencing similar issues, PTS/TBI and most importantly, to connect with their own thoughts and emotions. No prior horse experience is necessary, just a willingness to feel better!

Behavioral Health and Suicidality in the Veteran Population

In honor of September as Suicide Prevention Awareness Month, the September 26th meeting of the Montgomery County Veterans Collaborative will feature a special presentation: Behavioral Health and Suicidality in the Veteran Population, presented by David Galloway, Western MD Regional Resource Coordinator for Maryland's Commitment to Veterans. Wednesday, September 26th from 2:00-4:00pm in Rockville, MD.

Military Spouse Networking Event – Oct 4

Join USO Metro for a fun, fast paced speed networking session for military spouses in the Fort Belvoir Military Community. On Thursday, October 4, 2018 from 9:30 AM to 1:30 PM, you'll have the opportunity to learn about the USO, the art of networking, create and practice your elevator pitch and speed network with other military spouses, employers, organizations, and community leaders. All participants will walk away meeting new friends, contacts, and professionals.

Veterans History Project and Interview Workshop

Join Hylton Performing Arts Center on October 26 or October 27 for a lecture on the Veterans History Project and to participate in an interview. The lecture is free and open to all from 10 a.m.–11:15 a.m. Veterans must register to participate in interviews that will be conducted by Servicemembers and Veterans from 11:30 a.m.–12:15 p.m.

Free yoga classes offered to veterans and military families at the Steven A Cohen Military Family Clinic at Easterseals in Silver Spring, MD on Fridays from 12:00-1:00pm and on Saturdays from 10:00-11:00am. Free onsite parking and free child care provided. Space is limited. Please register online.

One Day Free Veterans Legal Clinic

The Steven A Cohen Military Family Clinic and the Veterans Consortium ProBono Program are offering a free one day veterans legal clinic on Friday, October 26th from 10AM to 3PM. Talk to an attorney for free on a variety of issues to include Veteran Benefits, Disability/Benefits Claims and Landlord/Tenant Law. Appointments are required.

Join ServingTogether at the Out of the Darkness Walk – Sept 29

Support ServingTogether: Connecting Veterans as we walk to fight suicide in the Out of the Darkness Fairfax Walk. Saturday, September 29. Registration begins at 9 am. Walk begins at 11 am. Event ends at 1 pm. We are joining the community of nearly 250k people walking in hundreds of cities across the country in support of the American Foundation for Suicide Prevention's mission to save lives and bring hope to those affected by suicide. Register to walk with us! There is no registration fee for this event.

Rest and Relaxation Couple’s Retreat – Oct 1-4

Hope For The Warriors is also hosting a Couple’s Retreat focused on Rest and Relaxation October 1st- 4th on Taylor’s Island right on the shore in Maryland. Couples will be treated to a midweek getaway that will include food and lodging, water sports, yoga/relaxation sessions, date nights at local restaurants and much more on the scenic Eastern Shore of Maryland. Veteran Tickets Foundation (Vet Tix) is a national nonprofit that supports the military community of all branches of currently serving military including the Guard and Reserve, veterans of all eras, families of those killed in action and caregivers of VetTixers.
