  • Free Writing Workshop for Veterans at Montgomery County Public Libraries

    Montgomery County Public Libraries (MCPL) is offering a free six-session workshop open for veterans, service members, and their adult family members. The six-session workshop will take place at the Rockville Memorial library, 21 Maryland Ave., Rockville, on Saturdays, September 30, October 7, 14, 21, 28 & November 4 1:00 to 3:00 pm. Registration is required.

  • Free Workshop on Compassion Fatigue & Burnout for Those Working with Veterans and Others

    October 17, 2017 from 9:00am - 12:00pm. Registration is required. Burnout and secondary traumatic stress/compassion fatigue are some of the terms used to describe the emotional impact that some providers experience when working with individuals who have experienced traumatic events. This dynamic and interactive training will provide information on how to recognize signs of secondary trauma/compassion fatigue and burnout and how to overcome these through self-care and self-soothing techniques. 3 continuing education credit hours available.

  • Run for EveryMind 5K September 17th

    Join us as we run and walk through the trees and trails of Meadowbrook Park for our 2nd Annual RunforEveryMind! Montgomery County Road Runners Club will time the 5K course using the IPICO Sportag Transponder system. This is a USATF sanctioned event. Online registration closes at 12pm on 9/15. Registration also available on 9/16 at Road Runner Sports in Rockville from 3-8pm and on race day, 9/17 at Meadowbrook Park in Chevy Chase.

    Modern Day Marine Expo will be held on MCB Quantico 19 Sept. through 21 Sept. Marine Military Expositions showcase the latest innovations in military equipment and systems, designed specifically to address the evolving, expeditionary needs of the Marine Corps. Join us in preparing today’s Marines for the opportunities and challenges of the 21st century.

  • Fort Belvoir Oktoberfest – Sept 28 thru Oct 1

    Fort Belvoir’s Family and MWR hosts one of the most anticipated events of the year: The 21st annual Oktoberfest! Located at Fremont Field on Fort Belvoir, September 28 - October 1. Oktoberfest is a four-day festival that highlights authentic German cuisine, beverages, music, and dancing. Enjoy an exciting carnival, Volksmarch 10K Walk, a vendor market (Specker Field House), and much more. This is a fun-filled event geared toward the whole family!
