• Booz Allen Hamilton Networking Dinner – Transitioning Servicemembers – Oct 16

    Booz Allen Hamilton Networking Dinner will be held on Monday, October 16 from 6:30pm – 8:30pm at the USO on Fort Belvoir. Meet Booz Allen Hamilton representatives and learn about career opportunities. Listen as a Veteran currently working with Booz Allen Hamilton shares their insight and experience of the application and hiring process. Participants must have transitioned out of active duty service within the past 12 months, or are transitioning out of active duty service within the next 12 months. Space is limited and participants will be selected by lottery from registration list.

    Save the Date: Fort Belvoir SFL-TAP and ACS will be hosting the Fall 2017 Career Fair on Wednesday, October 26 from 9 am – 2 pm at the Fort Belvoir Community Center.

  • FREE CCNA Course for Transitioning Service Members – Applications Being Accepted

    USO of Metropolitan Washington-Baltimore is now accepting applications for our next CCNA course offered for transitioning service members. The course is offered November 7, 2017 through February 3, 2018, with classes held T/TH evening from 6:00pm – 9:30pm, and Saturday morning from 8:00am – 12:00pm at USO on Fort Belvoir. Applications must be completed and submitted by 3:00pm, Tuesday October 24. There will be no exceptions. Participants accepted in to the program will be notified on or about October 31.

  • Veteran Employment in Northern Virginia, a discussion – Oct 3

    The Fairfax County Veterans Collaborative October meeting will feature a topic-driven discussion on employment for veterans in the Northern Virginia area. Tuesday, October 3 from 1:00 – 3:00 pm at George Mason Regional Library (7001 Little River Turnpike, Annandale, VA 22003). We’ll have representatives from: Northern Virginia Technology Council / Veterans Employment Initiative, Virginia Employment Commission, Easter Seals Veteran Staff Network, Veterans Next Mission, USO Metro / Project Next S.T.E.P., and some Veteran Recruiters/Employers. Join in on the discussion to learn about programs and services available for veterans in the region, and have an opportunity to learn, ask questions, network and share.

    Travis Manion Foundation’s (TMF) will be hosting a Veteran Transition Workshops (VTW) on Saturday, September 23 from 9 am at the Carlyle Group in Washington, D.C. VTW aids service members in leveraging their strengths, passions, & skills to thrive personally and professionally in their post-military lives.

  • DC Networking Reception and Hiring Expo with the Washington Nationals

    Join Hiring Our Heroes for a job fair for service members, veterans, and military spouses at Nationals Park in Washington, DC. Wednesday, September 6, 2017 to Thursday, September 7, 2017. All registered veterans and military spouses are eligible to receive up to two free tickets to attend that evening’s game between the Nationals and the Phillies. The night before the hiring fair, please join the Hiring Our Heroes Military Spouse Program for a networking reception in at Capital One Headquarters in McLean, VA. Connect with recruiters from local and national businesses, community leaders, and local professionals, participate in mentoring sessions, and receive a complimentary professional LinkedIn profile photo.

    USO Metro will be hosting an Employment Readiness Workshop on Fort Belvoir on Saturday, September 21 from 9:30 am – 1:00 pm. Open to transitioning servicemembers, veterans and military spouses.

  • Employment and Education Fair: NSA Bethesda September 12th

    The NSA Bethesda Fleet and Family Support Center and Navy College will host the NSA Bethesda Employment and Education Fair on Tuesday, September 12th from 10am-2pm. Registration is required and base access must be obtained for individuals without DOD access to base.

  • Business Basics for Transitioning Servicemembers Accepting Applications

    USO of Metropolitan Washington-Baltimore and Hewlett Packard Enterprise have teamed up to provide Business Basics — a program designed to give participants real-world corporate skills targeted around “how to get things done in Corporate America”. This program includes online classes, individual mentoring, classroom instruction and practical application exercises which will help transitioning service members hit the ground running in their first job after the military. Classes will be held at the USO Warrior and Family Center at Fort Belvoir Thursdays from 6:00 – 9:30pm September 7 – October 12. Applications will be accepted through 5:00pm Tuesday, August 29. Space is limited and a completed and submitted application does not guarantee a spot.
