VEI Vetworking – June 21 & 28

The Northern Virginia Technology Council’s Veteran Employment Initiative next VEI Vetworking program will be held on June 21 & 28 at MITRE in McLean, VA. This free VETWORKING program provides Veteran and military spouse jobseekers with career transition education and personal growth experiences to succeed in seeking civilian employment. This takes a deeper dive into job seeking areas where your military transition assistance class did not go. VETWORKING is a personal development program combining elements of networking and mentoring and connects transitioning service members, Veterans and their spouses with a support team. Through small group interactions, VETWORKING facilitates a job seeker’s development of career search skills and empowers them through the support of fellow job seekers and professional mentors.

Webinar – Legal Services at Stand Downs June 15th

The National Veterans Technical Assistance Center (NVTAC) and the ABA Commission on Homelessness & Poverty are hosting a webinar “Legal Services at Stand Downs” on Thursday, June 15, 2017 2:00 PM - 3:00 PM EDT. This webinar will feature a panel of experts who will discuss a variety of legal topics relevant to working with veterans experiencing homelessness. Topics will include how to address criminal and civil legal matters and child support issues on-site at Stand Down. Panelists will also discuss how to develop initiatives to provide legal services in rural areas. Registration is required
