Governor McAuliffe Officially Opens New State Veterans Office In Manassas
Governor Terry McAuliffe today cut the ribbon for the official grand opening of the new Virginia Department of Veterans Services (VDVS) office in Manassas. The new office will primarily serve military veterans and their families in Prince William and Fauquier Counties, the Cities of Manassas and Manassas Park, and other localities in the area.

2017 DCoE Summit Registration is Now Open
Registration is now open for the 2017 Defense Centers of Excellence for Psychological Health and Traumatic Brain Injury Summit, “Advances in the State of the Science and Best Practices.” This year's event will provide real-time access to more than 28 hours of state-of-the-science programming, where participants can earn up to 14 hours of continuing education credits during the live event by attending psychological health sessions, TBI sessions, or a combination of both.
Veteran Round Table Discussions – Aug 2
The DC Mayor's Office of Veterans Affairs will be holding two round table discussions every month over the summer. If you are a D.C. Paid Internship with Warrior Canine Connection
WCC will offer a one-year paid Internship for Veterans and Military Family Members. The goal of the Internship is for all participants to acquire the knowledge, skills and attitudes to work as Mobility Service Dog Trainers with proficiency in WCC’s Mission Based Trauma Recovery model.
Morning Networking Session for Military Spouses – Aug 17
Join the USO as we host a speed networking event for military spouses in the Washington D.C. military community. On Thursday, August 17th from 9:30 AM – 1:30 PM at the Fort Belvoir USO, you’ll have the opportunity to learn about USO Programs, discuss the art of networking, and network with other military spouses, local employers and community leaders. DC Hire Vets – July 19
On Wednesday, July 19, 2017, the DC Department of Human Resources will sponsor, in partnership with the DC National Guard and the Mayor’s Office of Veterans Affairs, a DC Veterans Hiring #DCHIRESVETS event. This event will offer veterans the opportunity to participate in professional development workshops, connect with District and federal agencies as well as private sector companies. Participating agencies and companies will conduct interviews and have the opportunity to make contingent job offers on the spot.
Project Management Professional Course Accepting Applications!
USO of Metropolitan Washington-Baltimore is now accepting applications for our next Project Management Professional course offered for transitioning service members. The course is offered August 22 through September 21 at the Fort Belvoir USO, with classes held Tuesday and Thursday evenings from 6:00pm - 9:30pm, and Saturday mornings from 8:00am - 12:00pm.
Vocational Rehabilitation Assistance for DC Veterans
The District of Columbia Department of Disability Services has partnered with the Mayor's Office of Veterans Affairs to provide dedicated vocational rehabilitation assistance to our veteran community. This program and separate and apart from the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs' vocational rehabilitation program. If you have been denied or are currently using the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs' program, you may still be eligible for District assistance. Come speak with one of our counselors!
