Arts4Vets Festival – May 17

Are you an artist, emerging artist or an art enthusiast?  You will find something to love at the 1st ever Team RWB Arts4Vets Fest. They're currently accepting Veteran submissions in all types of art forms for exhibit and sale. They are accepting anything from Spoken Word, Culinary Art, New Media, Mixed Media, Paintings, Photos, Sculptures, Performing Arts, and more.   

Chick-fil-A Metro D.C. Military Appreciation Day – May 15

All active duty military and those who have honorably served, along with immediate family, are invited to join Chick Fil A for a free Chick-fil-A Meal. Offer valid only at participating Metro D.C. area Chick-fil-A restaurants on May 15, 2019 from 5:00 - 8:00 pm. One offer per customer.

Working with Military Families Impacted by Family Violence & Sexual Assault – May 16

The Fairfax County Domestic Violence Network invites you to join presenters from the Joint Base Myer-Henderson Hall’s Family Advocacy Program to learn about Military Life, unique challenges faced by Service Members and their families, and the programs and services offered by the Military to address Family Violence and Sexual Assault.  Thursday, May 16 from 1:30 - 3:30 pm at the Fairfax County Government Center.

FREE Kayak Fishing at Lake Anna State Park – May 11

Veterans, Military Members and their families! Join Bravo Zulu Outdoors for some fishing at Lake Anna State Park. Largemouth Bass, maybe stripers, catfish and panfish are all available. This will be the first time they are having an event on Lake Anna and the wonderful Lake Anna State Park. There is a lot to do at this park for any family members that may not be interested in kayaking. Lunch will be provided after fishing. Saturday, May 11 at 8 am. Registration is required, limited capacity for kayaks. Volunteers are also needed! 

Memorial Day Field of Honor at George C Marshall High School

For Memorial Day weekend, George C. Marshall High School's Class of 2019 will create a Field of Honor in front of the high school along Route 7.  We invite you to support the Field of Honor and the class of 2019 by sponsoring a flag (s) to honor the men and women who have made the ultimate sacrifice while serving in the U.S. military or to recognize the service of a veteran or an active duty service member.

Mental Health First Aid: Military/Veterans

ServingTogether, a program of EveryMind, will be offering two Mental Health First Aid: Military and Veteran Module 8-hour courses in May!  We're partnering with the Prince George's County Government and Frederick Community College to provide these workshop FREE of charge to individuals or organizations working with or supporting the military and veteran community. Lunch and snacks will be provided.

Caregiving While Caring for Your Young Child

The Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration (SAMHSA), in partnership with Veterans Health Administration (VHA), is pleased to support this webinar focused on strengthening community crisis systems and suicide care for SMVF through the implementation of four key best practices.  This webinar will be highly interactive and will provide examples and resources to help participants better serve SMVF in their communities.
