American Military Heritage Museum D-Day Events
Join the American Military Heritage Museum June 9th and June 9th for "The 75th Anniversary of the D-Day Invasion" event. A large collection of WWII equipment and vehicles and displays from various wars are on display. Saturday & Sunday, 9:30am - 5:00pm in Stephens City, VA.
Experience D-Day – The 75th Anniversary
The Winchester-Frederick County Historical Society will host a special museum presentation and display focusing upon D Day, the 6th of June 1944. This living history event will be conducted on Saturday, June 8th from 9:30am-5:00pm.
Scaling with Social Media Event
Join this free event to learn how to scale with social media while on a budget. Many people use social media, but many people don't know HOW to use it build their networks and their brands. It's no longer "Who you know," it's "WHO KNOWS YOU." Thursday, June 6th from 6-9PM at WeWork in DC. Veterans and Active Duty Service Members encouraged to attend. Registration is required.
Military Spouse Career Events
Hiring Our Heroes is holding two Military Spouse Career Events, June 3 & 5th. On June 3rd join them for a networking opportunity a the McLean Military Spouse Networking Reception at Capital One Headquarters. On June 5th join them for a hiring event at the Fort Belvoir Military Spouse Hiring Fair. Registration is required.
SCA Training & Experience Opportunities for Veterans
Student Conservation Association is currently seeking candidates for their corp programs, veteran fire corp and Maryland veteran corp. These opportunities will allow veterans to receive training and experience in Fire and Conservation. More information, contact Huma Raja at hraja@thesca.org.
Loudoun County Homeless Services Drop In Center
Beginning May 28th the Loudoun County Drop-In Center will return to its permanent location at the Loudoun Homeless Services Center in Leesburg, VA. Drop-In Services include access to showers and laundry facilities and meals.
Convoy of Hope Community Event
The Convoy of Hope Community event will be held Saturday, June 1 in Woodbridge, VA. Hope Starts Here in your city, your community, your neighborhood. The Convoy of Hope event is just the beginning of a long-lasting movement that has the power to transform people’s lives, inspire compassion and service and bring people and organizations together like never before. This is a collaborative effort to bring hope to a city through free groceries, health screenings, job fairs, family portraits, haircuts, prayer, activities for children and more.
Free Webinars Hosted by OPM
Beginning May 30th the Office of Personnel Management (OPM) will be hosting free webinars about the process of applying for employment with the federal government. If you or someone you know is interested in working for the federal government, then these webinars will be of interests. All session are free. However, they are limited to 1,500 participants each. Webinars held on a variety of dates throughout June. Registration is required.
VA National Cemetery Memorial Day Events
National Cemetery Administration will host Memorial Day ceremonies at VA national cemeteries across the country with the help of local communities. Each cemetery and community will add their own special touch of patriotism and "thanks" during the events. List of MD and VA ceremony locations in this post.
