Volunteers Needed for Sound the Alarm Event Dec 14th
The American Red Cross of the National Capital Region is looking for volunteers to support the Sound the Alarm rally at the Watergate at Landmark Condominiums on Saturday, December 14th from 8:00 am to 1:00 pm. Volunteers will visit condominiums to install free smoke alarms, replace batteries in existing alarms and share home fire safety education materials. Please ask your family, friends and colleagues to volunteer and register as this event is open to everyone. REGISTRATION IS REQUIRED.
Sweats for Vets
Join VFW post 11177 and the Knights of Columbus to provide new sweatsuits as gifts to veterans in the Martinsburg VA Medical Center Hospital. Please donate new, unwrapped sweat suits (only) to the VFW Post 1177 at their Christmas party on December 13th at 6PM, or contact Phil Rusciolelli pbrusciolelli@aol.com to arrange for drop off. The sweat suits will be packaged at the VFW 1177 post from 9am-12noon on December 28th.
Wounded Warrior Project Program Briefing Dec 19th
Join the Steven A Cohen Military Family Clinic at Easterseal and the Wounded Warrior Project (WWP) on Thursday, December 19th from 12:00-1:00 PM to learn more about Wounded Warrior Programs. WWP connects warriors, their families and caregivers to peers, programs and communities to ensure they have a network of support. Serve Our Willing Warriors Holiday Open House
Join Serve Our Willing Warriors on December 15th from 2:30pm – 4:30pm for their annual Open House and Tree Lighting Ceremony at 5pm! Each year the Serve Our Willing Warriors community gathers around the tree and brings a Christmas spirit into the house for the warriors. Come out and spread some holiday cheer!! This is a free event.
Talk Saves Lives: An Introduction to Suicide Prevention
A community-based presentation by the American Foundation for Suicide Prevention that covers the general scope of suicide, the research on prevention, and what people can do to fight suicide. Tuesday, December 17 from 6:30 PM – 8:00 PM at the Arlington Central Library 1015 N Quincy Street, Arlington, VA 22201. Registration is requested.
