Food Assistance Rising to #1 Need for Military and Veteran Families
"Food help has become the No. 1 request at Serving Together, an organization that assists veterans and military families in Maryland and Washington, for the first time in at least five years, said Jennifer Watson, a program manager there. The group has a partnership with two other organizations, and teenagers have been helping to distribute food boxes to hungry veterans."

Veterans ASCEND Weekly Walkthrough
Veterans ASCEND knows time is important. The less time it takes a veteran to find a civilian career, the better it is for them, their families, and their community. Reducing time to hire for employers is critical to business success. Veterans ASCEND translated thousands of military skill codes into transferable skills employers are looking for. Their proprietary program removes the barriers of a resume and applying for jobs online. Their skills matching program makes the human connection using unique data sets and an algorithm. Veterans ASCEND opens the door for veterans to connect with employers intentionally hiring veterans for their skills.
DC Veterans Roundtable
This event aims to connect the District's veterans with information, resources, and organizations that may be beneficial to a successful military transition. The event consists of an informal discussion that revolves around varying topics including housing, employment, healthcare, and legal services. Upon the conclusion of the discussion, all resource providers in attendance offer feedback on any topics discussed or how they can assist the veteran or their family in a positive capacity.
Veterans Laughs Matter
"Veterans Laughs Matter" is a project created to support, veterans through comedy and much-needed connection. COVID 19 has been hard on us on a global scale and lives have been destabilized in one way or another; but, for the military, it's impacted their lives in ways that only fellow veterans can truly understand and appreciate. This even brings together a collection of comedians to bring the laughter, community, and connection, our frontline deserves. Army, Navy, Air Force, Marines, Coast Guard, Army Reserves, National Guard, and all those around the world who keep our freedoms safe and secure, we're giving honor to them, in this event, as the comedians give their best to support our best.
PTSD 101 Group
Traumatic experiences produce many different physical and emotional reactions that start in the brain. They are instinctual and can make us feel out of control. This group will learn about common reactions to experiencing trauma, how/why the brain creates them, and how to cope. This group is open to Veterans of all eras.
