Paid Internships Open to Veterans

SCA and Davey Tree Expert Company are expanding their innovative career training collaboration and fielding nearly 100 tree care and grounds maintenance positions in 2016. Internships may lead to full time employment.

These paid internships run for six-months, and are available in more than a dozen locations nationwide. Special attention will be given to applicants with previous experience in SCA’s community program, crew leaders, and other alumni.

Working side-by-side with professional Davey Tree mentors, you’ll gain the experience, skills and knowledge necessary to transition into full time positions with Davey at the conclusion of your internship. Along the way, you’ll receive Davey’s full support with a structured training program, a uniform, and all necessary personal protective equipment.

SCA-Davey internships are available in Baltimore, Biloxi, Cincinnati, Cleveland, Colorado Springs, Fort Lauderdale, Great Falls, Jacksonville, New York City, Orlando, Tampa, and other leading cities.

Interns will work in teams of five along with one leader (ages 18—24 years). Responsibilities include:

  • Maintaining trees
  • Planting and removing shrubs
  • Removing invasive plants
  • Mulching and edging
  • Fertilizing plants, and more

Many members from last year’s program have been hired on as permanent employees
