Supermarket Sweeps – Fort Belvoir – July 12

  

The USO of Metropolitan Washington-Baltimore invites active duty servicemembers and dependents to come out to our:

Supermarket Sweeps!   

DATE: July 12th 

TIME: 10AM until the food runs out! 

LOCATION: USO-Metro Warehouse

9455 Jackson Loop, Ft. Belvoir, VA 22060

Come out to the warehouse with your empty grocery bags and we will fill them with fresh produce and other treats! 

Usually the USO conducts their Supermarket Sweeps on the first Wednesday of each month, but since that is the day after a holiday in July, they moved this event to July 12. Starting at 10 a.m. at the USO Warehouse, 9455 Jackson Loop, Bldg. 1415, on Fort Belvoir, food will be given away until the food runs out. Line up with your shopping bags for some free groceries. The offerings change each month. The Supermarket Sweeps is one of many USO assistance programs aimed at military personnel and their families facing financial challenges resulting from multiple deployments, frequent duty-station rotations, an uncertain economy, war injuries or illnesses and the high cost of living in the Washington, D.C. metro area. Through the Supermarket Sweeps program, service members and their families can obtain baked goods and supplies to alleviate some of the financial and emotional stresses they often face. The food items the USO distributes through the program are donated from suppliers located in the local region. This is for active duty and dependents only.

ARRIVE EARLY! THE LINE TENDS TO BEGIN EARLY!   

You may not park or idle your vehicle in the street or parking spaces in front of the warehouse bay doors. You may only park in the lower level gravel and grass. If you park or idle your car in the street/parking lot, even to load your vehicle, you will be towed. 

We apologize for the change, but safety is a priority for all our guests. The 55th Ordinance Company (EOD) has advised us that this must be enforced to ensure the safety of our patrons and other organizations on the installation.
