Armed Service Arts Partnership Summer 17′ Classes and Performances
The Armed Services Arts Partnership offers free classes and workshops in storytelling, writing, and improv for veterans, service members, and their families. A few of their upcoming classes and workshops include:
Comedy Bootcamp: the first-ever stand up comedy class free for veterans, service members, and military family members. Led by professional comics, the seven-week course develops the comedy writing and performing skills of participants through hands-on instruction and group feedback. Comedy Bootcamp culminates with a graduation show at a local comedy club, with each participant delivering a five minute set to a public audience.
- When: Sundays, September 24th through October 29th, 3PM-6PM each week.
- Where: DC Improv Comedy Club, Washington, DC
Storytelling Class w/ Story District: We are thrilled to partner with Story District to offer free storytelling classes for veterans, service members, military families, and caregivers. This seven-week, Storytelling 101 course, will help students translate experiences and stories into meaningful performances. Called the “gold standard in storytelling” by the Washington Post, our master teachers walk students through the steps of identifying material, developing a narrative structure, and connecting with an audience. The course will culminate with a graduation performance for friends, family, and members of the local community.
- When: Sundays, October 1st through November 5th, 11:30AM-2:30PM each week.
