Big Sonia Film Screening & Veteran Issues Panel Discussion – Oct 9
The feature documentary BIG SONIA, will have a film screening at the Library of Congress on Oct 9. There will be a panel discussion following the film which include a representative from Elizabeth Dole Foundation / Hidden Heroes that will speak about veteran related issues in regards to dealing with trauma. The filmmaker, Leah Warshawski, who directed the film along with her husband and is the granddaughter of Sonia, will be there for Q/A as well.
One of the largest themes in the film is intergenerational trauma and PTSD, and how that gets passed on through generations. You will hear from many veterans and their families after screenings who say “the film helped me have conversations I wasn’t able to have.”
