May 26 @ 6:00 pm: MDVA Special Presentation
The Maryland Department of Veterans Affairs will host a special presentation in honor of Memorial Day and D Day on Wednesday, May 26th. This virtual event will include remarks as well as briefings on the five MDVA programs, the MD Department of Labor Veterans Program, and the MD Department of Health Maryland’s Commitment to Veterans Program. May 27 @ 11:00 am: Memorial Service hosted by WVUCI
This Memorial Day Weekend, Women Veterans United Committee, Inc. will be hosting a memorial service at The Town of Indian Head, Inside Pavilion Green at Indian Head located in Charles County at the end of Route 210 (Indian Head HWY) just outside the gate of the Naval Support Facility Indian Head, MD 20640. May 30 @ 12:30 pm: Memorial Ceremony and Wreath Laying
The St. John’s Episcopal Church memorial honors Howard County residents killed in the Vietnam War. St. John’s Episcopal Church, located at 9120 Frederick Rd, Ellicott City, MD 21042.
May 30 @ 1:30 pm: Eastern Shore Veterans Ceremony

May 31 @ 9:30 am: City of Rockville Virtual Memorial Day Ceremony
Posting at 9:30 a.m. to Facebook, YouTube, website and Rockville Cable Channel 11, the virtual Memorial Day Ceremony features music by the Rockville Concert Band, an address by Mayor Bridget Donnell Newton, a traditional wreath-laying led by American Legion Post 86, presentation of colors by Rockville City Police Department Honor Guard, and an address by the guest speaker Eric N. Bernard, Hospital Corpsman Second Class, US Navy (Ret.).
May 31 @ 10:00 am: Dulaney Valley Memorial Gardens 2021 Memorial Day Ceremony
On Monday May 31, Secretary Owings will attend the Memorial Day Ceremony at Dulaney Valley Memorial Gardens. The ceremony will take place at 10:00 at the Circle of the Immortals, Dulaney Valley Memorial Gardens, 200 E. Padonia Road, Timonium, 21093. Honorees are the six service members with ties to Maryland who were lost within the last two years and all men and women of the Armed Forces who have paid the highest price in defense of the United States. Limited seating is available, members of the public are encouraged to bring their own chairs. The American Veterans Center is proud to announce the return of the National Memorial Day Parade in 2021, coming to television nationwide for a special holiday tribute. Due to continued protocols, the 2021 National Memorial Day Parade will be filmed for television only, and will not be open to the public. May 31 @ 1:00 pm: Memorial Day Ceremony at the Vietnam Veterans Memorial
Each year on Memorial Day, veterans and their families congregate at The Wall to remember and to honor those who died while serving in the U.S. armed forces. On these special days, prominent Americans from all walks of life come to the Memorial to deliver thoughtful and patriotic speeches. VVMF will host a small in-person ceremony at The Wall to commemorate Memorial Day 2021. Under guidelines for Washington, D.C., there are limited number of allowed attendees. There will no large group seating due to the restrictions. Please note that all attendees are encouraged to wear masks for the event. NORTHERN VIRGINIA:
May 26 @ 9:00 am – 3:00 pm: Alexandria Vet Center Memorial Day
You’re invited to honor veteran you knew or loved by adding their names and their stories to a memorial book or adding their pictures to a memorial photo board. The Memorial will be held outside the Alexandria Vet Center (6940 South Kings Highway, Alexandria, VA 22310). There will be a table with small tokens of appreciation for our departed veterans. May 31 at 11:00 am: Virginia’s Annual Memorial Day Ceremony
The Virginia War Memorial Foundation looks forward to hosting the Commonwealth of Virginia’s 65th Annual Memorial Day Ceremony both in-person and online on Monday, May 31st. As they do every year, they will honor the nearly 12,000 Virginia’s men and women who have made the ultimate sacrifice defending our freedom and who served in the United States Armed Forces with guest speakers, patriotic music and recognition of the four names added to the Shrine of Memory in the past year. May 31 at 4:00 pm: The Women’s 24th Annual Memorial Day Ceremony
The Women’s Memorial 24th annual Memorial Day ceremony will be held at 4 p.m., May 31, 2021 at the Military Women’s Memorial in Arlington, VA. The ceremony, one of the major Memorial Day programs in the nation’s capital, is free and open to the public. In addition to formal military honors and a keynote address, the program will include remarks from past and present military women representing each of the six services; and the Memorial’s signature event, the scattering of rose petals in tribute to departed comrades. Members of the public are invited to join in the personal tribute segment of the program.
