FREE CCNA Course for Transitioning Service Members – Applications Being Accepted
USO of Metropolitan Washington-Baltimore is now accepting applications for our next CCNA course offered for transitioning service members. The course is offered November 7, 2017 through February 3, 2018, with classes held T/TH evening from 6:00pm - 9:30pm, and Saturday morning from 8:00am - 12:00pm at USO on Fort Belvoir. Applications must be completed and submitted by 3:00pm, Tuesday October 24. There will be no exceptions. Participants accepted in to the program will be notified on or about October 31.
Reboot Combat Recovery – 12 Week Course
The course just started and still has seats available! Join in starting on Thursday, September 28 at 6:30 pm for two hours a week for 12 weeks, focusing on the spiritual aspects of combat recovery. Held each Thursday from 6:30 - 8:30 pm at Floris United Method Church in Herndon. This is a free course - not a support group - providing practical help for Veterans, Service members, first responders and their families dealing with the after effects of trauma. You won't find shortcuts or easy answers, but instead you'll find solutions that last. Dinner and childcare are provided.
Free Dental Care for Veterans – Oct 12
Kathleen Mullaney D.D.S. participates each year with Freedom Day USA and provides free services for Veteran’s on Thursday, October 12th from 8am – 5pm. They will be offering free dental exams, X-rays, oral cancer screenings, cleanings and extractions for needy veterans. To make an appointments for this event, please call 703-548-8584 to schedule. First come, first serve for appointments. *Proof of service required with valid Military ID or DD214 papers.

Veteran Employment in Northern Virginia, a discussion – Oct 3
The Fairfax County Veterans Collaborative October meeting will feature a topic-driven discussion on employment for veterans in the Northern Virginia area. Tuesday, October 3 from 1:00 – 3:00 pm at George Mason Regional Library (7001 Little River Turnpike, Annandale, VA 22003). We’ll have representatives from: Northern Virginia Technology Council / Veterans Employment Initiative, Virginia Employment Commission, Easter Seals Veteran Staff Network, Veterans Next Mission, USO Metro / Project Next S.T.E.P., and some Veteran Recruiters/Employers. Join in on the discussion to learn about programs and services available for veterans in the region, and have an opportunity to learn, ask questions, network and share.
VAREP DC Chapter Networking Mixer – Sept 12, 19 & 26
VAREP D.C. Chapter will be hosting a networking mixer and fundraiser at Not Your Average Joe's Kitchen & Bar in Potomac Town Place in Woodbridge, VA on Sept 12, 19 & 26 from 4 - 7 pm. Join them for networking, drinks, appetizers, and raffles! Portion of the proceeds help pay local veteran families housing needs.

Honor Flight Guardian Training – Sept 25
The DCA Honor Flight will be hosting an upcoming guardian training on Monday, September 25 at 5:45 pm at the Capitol Post (625 N Washington St, Suite 425, Alexandria, VA 22314).
Free REVIVE Training – Sept 27
Loudoun County Department of Mental Health, Substance Abuse and Development Services will be hosting a REVIVE! training. This training can help provide you with the skills and tools to administer Nalozone, that can safe an individual that is having an opioid overdose. Free Narcan nasal spray will be dispensed at training.
Wills for Vets
The Prince William Agency on Aging, partnership with the Prince William Bar Association is once again sponsoring a "Wills for Veterans" Program. The Prince William Bar Association will be drafting 1) Will and Testaments, 2) Power of Attorneys, and 3) Medical Directives for the Veteran (and their spouse/caregiver) in the Tri-jurisdictional areas of PWC, Manassas, and Manassas Park -FREE! All veterans are encouraged to participate who do not have a Will, Power of Attorney and/or Medical Directives. Space is limited to the first 80 veterans/spouses who sign-up w/ an RSVP to guarantee participation.
