George C Marshall High School – Field of Honor – May 26-29

On May 26-29th, George C. Marshall High School's Class of 2019 will celebrate the Memorial Day holiday by creating a Field of Honor in front of the high school along Route 7. We invite you to support the Field of Honor and the class of 2019 by sponsoring a flag (s) to honor the men and women who have died while serving in the U.S. military or to recognize the service of a veteran or an active duty service member. For each flag sold, GCM will make a donation to ServingTogether and can send an e-card to the family or the honoree to let them know they have been honored with a photo of the Field of Honor.

Veterans History Project Panel Discussion on Effects of PTSD, May 24

The Veterans History Project and National Institute of Corrections explore the effects of PTSD on crime and recidivism. At noon on Wednesday, May 24, a panel of renowned experts will speak on the effects of PTSD on veterans and how the Veterans Treatment Courts (VTC) support those who have run afoul of the law by proving appropriate treatment. The panel, in honor of Memorial Day and in anticipation of National PTSD Awareness Month, will be held in room 119 on the first floor of the Library’s Thomas Jefferson Building, 10 First St. S.E., Washington, D.C. Tickets are not needed but RSVP is required. Reservations may be made by sending an email to ahub@loc.gov.

MCB Quantico Run Amuck – June 10

Run Amuck, the MCM's messiest mud and obstacle event, offers runners arduous obstacles and plenty of mud along a four-mile course on Saturday, June 10, 2017 at Butler Stadium. Run Amuck and the scaled down two-mile version of the course, Mini Run Amuck, offer wild fun for rowdy runners (ages 8 and up), outrageous athletes and fun-loving families. Run Amuck participants will attack the mud trench, lumber through a low crawl, beat a water blast and submerge in a super sloppy mud pit, just three of 20+ challenges that await participants along the hideously hilly course tucked into the wooden terrain of Marine Corps Base Quantico.
