VA announces rollout and application process for new Veterans ID Card

VA has announced that the application process for the national Veterans Identification Card (VIC) is now available for Veterans — yet another action honoring their service. To request a VIC, Veterans must visit vets.gov, click on “Apply for Printed Veteran ID Card” on the bottom left of the page sign in or create an account.

The Art of Being a Military-Connected Child – Call for the Arts

Calling kids from all over the world, every service, and all ages! Show us what it means to be a military kid through drawings, paintings, poems, or essays. In celebration of our 20th Anniversary and sponsored by Target, the 2017/2018 Call for the Arts campaign will raise visibility of military and veteran-connected children and the sacrifices they experience through military lifestyle. The Art of Being a Military-Connected Child is open to all civilian and military-connected students, Pre-K through high school. All submissions must be postmarked by December 31, 2017.

Vets Hike Across Maryland November 11th

Join Veterans Hike Across Maryland on Veterans Day, November 11th for the fifth and final section of this year’s MD hike from Gathland State Park to Harpers Ferry. Hikes are free to veterans who have registered and agreed to complete a short survey. The purpose of the hikes are to introduce veterans to the physical and mental benefits of hiking in a wilderness setting. Hikes will be led by trained, volunteer hike leaders from the Mid-Atlantic Hiking Group, in small groups of approximately 15 to 20 hikers per hike leader.
