Heroes Walk to Fly 5K September 17th

This inspirational 1.5 mile walk and Community Block Party, sponsored by SAIC, welcomes Luke’s Wings’ supporters and beneficiaries to celebrate our wounded service members’ milestones. Starting next to Walter Reed National Military Medical Center, walkers will enjoy festivities including breakfast, energy snacks by KIND, a yoga warm-up, live music, t-shirt pick-up and more!

Student Veteran Career Conference – Sept 11 & 12

The Region 2 Student Veteran Conference will be held on Mon, Sep 11, 2017 – Tue, Sep 12, 2017 at the Embassy Suites in Arlington VA (1300 Jefferson Davis Hwy. Arlington, VA 22202). Student Veteran Career Conferences are physical and virtual events designed to connect corporate and government university recruiters with student veterans and military students (Active, ROTC, Guard, Reserve).

NS2Serves Fall Class Now Accepting Applications

NS2 Serves™ is now accepting applications for their fall course in Leesburg, VA. NS2 Serves™ is an independent, nonprofit 501(c)(3) organization established by SAP National Security Services, Inc. (SAP NS2®) to give back to the community it serves by training and employing veterans in high-tech careers. The course is open to post-9/11 U.S. military service veterans and reservists (including disabled veterans), service members with orders to leave active duty, and Gold Star spouses who meet certain eligibility requirements.

Governor McAuliffe Officially Opens New State Veterans Office In Manassas

Governor Terry McAuliffe today cut the ribbon for the official grand opening of the new Virginia Department of Veterans Services (VDVS) office in Manassas. The new office will primarily serve military veterans and their families in Prince William and Fauquier Counties, the Cities of Manassas and Manassas Park, and other localities in the area.

2017 DCoE Summit Registration is Now Open

Registration is now open for the 2017 Defense Centers of Excellence for Psychological Health and Traumatic Brain Injury Summit, “Advances in the State of the Science and Best Practices.” This year's event will provide real-time access to more than 28 hours of state-of-the-science programming, where participants can earn up to 14 hours of continuing education credits during the live event by attending psychological health sessions, TBI sessions, or a combination of both.

Veteran Round Table Discussions – Aug 2

The DC Mayor's Office of Veterans Affairs will be holding two round table discussions every month over the summer. If you are a D.C. Paid Internship with Warrior Canine Connection

WCC will offer a one-year paid Internship for Veterans and Military Family Members. The goal of the Internship is for all participants to acquire the knowledge, skills and attitudes to work as Mobility Service Dog Trainers with proficiency in WCC’s Mission Based Trauma Recovery model.

DC Hire Vets – July 19

On Wednesday, July 19, 2017, the DC Department of Human Resources will sponsor, in partnership with the DC National Guard and the Mayor’s Office of Veterans Affairs, a DC Veterans Hiring #DCHIRESVETS event. This event will offer veterans the opportunity to participate in professional development workshops, connect with District and federal agencies as well as private sector companies. Participating agencies and companies will conduct interviews and have the opportunity to make contingent job offers on the spot.
