District of Columbia Veterans Appreciation Employment Expo 11/30

A District of Columbia Department of Employment Services (DOES) VETERANS ONLY "Employment Fair" with an assembly of veteran friendly Employers, Apprenticeship programs and Training vendors seeking to hire and or train veterans in their respective organizations. An opportunity for veterans seeking employment, apprenticeship information and or training/vocational certifications a platform and format to meet their employment goals. Preregistration is required.

Veteran Employment Transition Summit (VETS) – Dec 6 & 7

Veteran Employment Transition Summit (VETS) will be held on December 6 & 7th at Fort Belvoir Community Center beginning at 8:30 am each day. December 6th will feature American Dream U Entrepreneur Summit from 9 am - 1:30 pm followed by Hiring Our Heroes and a Career Networking Social. December 7th will include the Hiring Event sponsored by VEI, DVS and V3. Open to Military, spouses, veterans and civilians.

Tribute Display of Military Children and their Parents

The City of Manassas will partner with the Military Child Education Coalition, to showcase the brave sons and daughters of military parents at our feature train show “Polar Express at Merry Old Town Manassas” held at the Center for the Arts, in recognition of these special families and their contributions. Perhaps you are a military family or know of a family deserving of this honor. If so, please send a photo that shows heartfelt emotion of a family that means the most to you to display. Deadline for submission is December 1.

Vetoga – Veterans Class – Nov 26

VETOGA’s mission is to provide yoga, meditation, and healing arts to military, veterans, their families, and communities. They hold FREE monthly yoga classes. Their next class is Sunday, November 26 from 12 - 1 pm in Occoquan, VA. Registration required.

Stars, Stripes & Snowflakes Holiday Party – Dec 3

BlueStarFamilies will be hosting a holiday party for wounded warriors, servicemembers (E6 and below) and their families on December 6 from 1 - 3 pm at the Spates Community Center on Fort Myer. Stars, Stripes, and Snowflakes is a special time for us to recognize and celebrate our military families with a special visit with Santa, activities for the whole family, giveaways for the adults, and gifts for the children.

Military & Veteran Caregiver Wellness Workshop – Nov 17

Hope for the Warriors will be hosting a Military & Veteran Caregiver Wellness Workshop on Friday, November 17 from 9 am - 3:30 pm in Lorton, VA. Workshop is open to military caregivers of post 9/11 service members and veterans.

Vets Hike Across Maryland November 11th

Join Veterans Hike Across Maryland on Veterans Day, November 11th for the fifth and final section of this year’s MD hike from Gathland State Park to Harpers Ferry. Hikes are free to veterans who have registered and agreed to complete a short survey. The purpose of the hikes are to introduce veterans to the physical and mental benefits of hiking in a wilderness setting. Hikes will be led by trained, volunteer hike leaders from the Mid-Atlantic Hiking Group, in small groups of approximately 15 to 20 hikers per hike leader.
