The American Association of Suicidology (AAS) launched a brand new website as part of the Department of Suicide Prevention Office/AAS grant project. More and more veteran are using service dogs to help cope with their Post Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD). However, the Department of Veteran Affairs (VA) will not pay for veterans to receive service animals.

"It had been four years since Erickson, a trauma nurse, witnessed some of the worst from the war in Iraq and Afghanistan. When she transferred from the Walter Reed Army Hospital to join the 86th Combat Support Hospital at Fort Campbell, those gruesome memories came rushing back. Her sleep, and her health, deteriorated. Less than a year later, Erickson was diagnosed with post-traumatic stress disorder."
