Project Management Professional Course Accepting Applications!

USO of Metropolitan Washington-Baltimore is now accepting applications for our next Project Management Professional course offered for transitioning service members. The course is offered August 22 through September 21 at the Fort Belvoir USO, with classes held Tuesday and Thursday evenings from 6:00pm - 9:30pm, and Saturday mornings from 8:00am - 12:00pm.

Veterans History Project Panel Discussion on Effects of PTSD, May 24

The Veterans History Project and National Institute of Corrections explore the effects of PTSD on crime and recidivism. At noon on Wednesday, May 24, a panel of renowned experts will speak on the effects of PTSD on veterans and how the Veterans Treatment Courts (VTC) support those who have run afoul of the law by proving appropriate treatment. The panel, in honor of Memorial Day and in anticipation of National PTSD Awareness Month, will be held in room 119 on the first floor of the Library’s Thomas Jefferson Building, 10 First St. S.E., Washington, D.C. Tickets are not needed but RSVP is required. Reservations may be made by sending an email to ahub@loc.gov.

Veterans Employment Transition Summit & Hiring Event – April 20 & 21

The NVTC Veterans Employment Initiative (VEI) is partnering with the Military District of Washington (MDW) to put on another two-day Veteran Employment Transition Summit (VETS) at the Community Center at Fort Myer on Thursday and Friday, April 20-21. Job seeking transitioning military members, Veterans and military spouses are welcome and encouraged to attend.

Governor McAuliffe cuts ribbon on new Veterans Benefits office in Springfield

Governor Terry McAuliffe celebrated the opening of the new Virginia Department of Veterans Services (VDVS) Benefits office in Springfield during a ceremonial ribbon cutting. The ceremony was attended by a diverse group that included state representatives, Supervisor Pat Herrity of the Springfield District of the Fairfax County Board of Supervisors, veterans, active duty military service members, and community leaders.

VA will be teaming up with Veterans of Foreign Wars (VFW) to give Facebook audiences a live video tour of a VA Vet Center on Wednesday, August 17th at 7 p.m. ET. The video tour will be followed by a Q&A with VA experts.
