Coalition Launches ‘Make A Veteran Smile’ Program

Reconstructive plastic surgery offered free to qualified veterans through partnership with Coalition to Salute America’s Heroes, Maryland Plastic Surgery & PURE MedSpa

LEESBURG, VA (Feb. 27, 2017) – The Coalition to Salute America’s Heroes (Coalition), a leading not-for-profit organization dedicated to rebuilding the lives of severely wounded veterans of the global War on Terror, recently launched a new program offering reconstructive plastic surgery procedures free of charge to qualified veterans.

The “Make a Veteran Smile” program invites candidates to submit their stories about how a reconstructive plastic surgery procedure will improve their life. Each month, one veteran will be selected to receive a complimentary plastic surgery procedure by Dr. Adam Summers at the Maryland Plastic Surgery Center in Glen Burnie, Md.

The program also includes tattoo removal and Botox injections for migraine treatment, for those interested in those services.

Dr. Summers, Board Certified in Plastic Surgery and a Clinical Assistant Professor of Plastic Surgery, founded the Maryland Plastic Surgery Center and PURE MedSpa in 2002. Since that time, he has treated more than 10,000 patients and donated over $250,000 to charitable causes.

“My father proudly served as a veteran for our country and I wanted to find a way to honor all of our veterans,” said Dr. Summers. “I know how much they have given to our country and I also know that many of them have experienced hardships. I am excited to be able to do something that will bring a smile to their face and that of their family. I also believe that others will want to support this mission, which is why I’m inviting local residents to participate in my new Make a Veteran Smile program.”

Dr. Summers is offering a special package for those who wish to empower veterans while helping themselves as well. The package includes a facelift or tummy-tuck for only $5,899 at the Maryland Plastic Surgery Center, plus a FREE bonus Spa Makeover at Image Creators Salon & Spa. A portion of these proceeds will be donated to the Coalition to Salute America’s Heroes.

“What an outstanding program and generous commitment by Dr. Summers!” said Donny Daughenbaugh, vice president of field operations for the Leesburg, VA-based Coalition. “As a veteran who lives with an enemy bullet still lodged in the base of my skull, I understand how vital plastic surgery can be to one’s appearance and self-image. We are immensely proud to team with Dr. Summers and his businesses to offer this wonderful procedure to deserving heroes.”

About the Coalition
Since its establishment in 2004, the Coalition to Salute America’s Heroes has provided an immediate, invaluable lifeline to thousands of America’s combat-wounded veterans. The Leesburg, VA-based organization is distinguished from other veteran-focused groups by its direct financial assistance to America’s wounded heroes. Its Emergency Financial Aid program has stopped foreclosure proceedings on veterans’ homes and kept their vehicles from being repossessed. Its innovative Heroes Thanking Heroes program provides transitional, part-time, flexible employment to nearly 50 combat-wounded veterans or their primary caregivers, enabling them to make phone calls from their homes, usually to personally thank donors for their contributions to the Coalition.

Combat-wounded/disabled OIF/OEF/OND veterans are invited to join the Coalition and expand their camaraderie network by enrolling in the Veteran Circle program at http://saluteheroes-vetcircle.org.
