The Mayor’s Office of Veterans Affairs (“MOVA”) is resuming the VetsRide transportation program for District of Columbia (DC) veterans. VetsRide is a partnership between Via, Department of For-Hire Vehicles (DFHV) and MOVA that provides convenient, affordable, and efficient transportation for Veterans in DC seeking educational, health, employment, food distribution, or housing services. Program eligibility is restricted to veteran residents of Washington DC with annual income less than $30,000 or recently unemployed. VetsRide participants will receive ten, one-way ride vouchers per month with the options of rolling over two unused vouchers every month.
VetsRide hours of operation are Monday to Friday 6:00am – 10:00pm within the borders of Washington D.C. Documentation evidencing eligibility may be requested by MOVA.
MOVA prohibits use of the VetsRide Program (“Program”) service for any purpose that is not explicitly authorized by the Program terms and conditions.
Program participants may only use Program rides for the following:
(a) Medical treatment and/or appointments
(b) Educational Opportunities
(c) Employment Interviews
(d) Housing appointments
(e) Grocery Stores and Food Distro Sites
MOVA encourages voucher ridesharing, however, ridesharing is restricted to
the following participants:
(a) Other veterans who are also eligible for the Program;
(b) Family members of eligible veterans; and
(c) Authorized caregivers for eligible veterans
