Heroes on the Water George Washington Chapter – End of Season Float, Kayak and Camping Events
Heroes on the Water are getting to the end of the season and have a few events still open for participation and volunteer opportunities.
September 8 – Rappahannock River
Their float down the Rappahannock River, near Fredericksburg VA on September 8th is coming up quickly this weekend. They still have single kayaks available. Twin Junction Outfitters has graciously donated transportation and guidance for this float trip. They will meet at Motts Run Access near Fredericksburg at 7:30 am. Like many of their other floats, children (or adults for that matter) need to be able to be on the river for 4-5 hours. They are on the water for the duration. Exact timing is up to the fish and the river flow.
September 15 – Shenandoah River
The following week they will have a float on the Shenandoah. Returning to their original float location – Karo to Front Royal. They will meet at the Karo launch on September 15th at 8:00 am.
September 28-30 Patriot Point Event with the USO
On September 28-30, this is their rescheduled Patriot Point Event for the USO, they are looking for volunteers only to support their Beyond the Base Program.
October 5-7 Patriot Point
To wrap up the season they return to Patriot Point the next weekend October 5-7. This event is a regular HOW event and open to military, veterans and their families. They will be camping and also offering a limited number of bedrooms in the guest house.
