HUD Reports Decline in Homelessness
On November 19th, the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD), released their ‘2015 Annual Homeless Assessment Report (AHAR) to Congress.’ The report is based on the agency’s annual Point-in-Time estimates that are conducted in January.
Among the statistics that the National homelessness rate is on the decline, the report also highlights the Veteran homelessness rate: “Veteran homelessness fell by 36% between 2010 and January 2015, including a 47% decline in unsheltered veterans. On a single night in January 2015, fewer than 48,000 veterans were homeless, and only 34% of those were on the street.”
