Introducing Veterans and Service Members to Mindfulness

The Center for Deployment Psychology Presents:

Introducing Veterans and Service Members to Mindfulness online via Zoom

12 December, Noon to 1:30 p.m. Eastern (webinar)

Description: In this free 90 minute webinar, participants will learn more about mindfulness-based interventions and their possible uses as adjunctive treatments to foster psychological resilience and address post-traumatic stress in Service members and Veterans. The session will describe the concept of mindfulness as well as a proposed model for understanding the possible mechanisms by which mindfulness may help to increase one’s ability to cope with stress.

In addition, this webinar will review research regarding the relationship of mindfulness to key factors related to psychological well-being and outcome data for several promising mindfulness-based treatments for Service members and Veterans (i.e., Mindfulness-Based Mind Fitness Training, Mindfulness-Based Stress Reduction, and Mindfulness-Based Cognitive Therapy for PTSD). Participants will leave with knowledge about the potential benefits of using mindfulness-based interventions as well as the core competencies necessary for delivering these interventions with fidelity.
