Prince George’s County Food Equity Council Update

Food Assistance Resources for Residents Impacted by the Coronavirus Outbreak

County, state, and national response to the novel coronavirus must center those individuals and communities at the highest risk. Their welfare can not be an afterthought of crisis management.

The Prince George’s County Food Equity Council applauds the aggressive approach taken by Governor Hogan and County Executive Alsobrooks to protect public health and limit the spread of COVID-19, they are deeply concerned that this crisis will deepen existing health and economic disparities. They fear the most hardship will fall on the shoulders of those who are already struggling to make financial ends meet and maintain their health.

They will continue to work closely with local, state, and federal partners to advocate for increased access to healthy food for all residents. They have also compiled resources to help local families who are impacted by the school and government closures related to COVID-19. Please stay well and feel free to reach out if you need help finding food resources for yourself, your family, or your community.
