Join Washington National Cathedral –– online or in person –– on Nov. 11, 2018, as we celebrate the resilience of America’s military families and commemorate the 100th anniversary of the end of World War I.
WWI Commemorative Service
November 11, 2018 marks the 100th anniversary of the end of World War I. Together with the World War One Centennial Commission, Washington National Cathedral will host a sacred interfaith service to remember the sacrifices of the 4.7 million Americans who served in the Great War and honor the role the U.S. military has played in preserving peace and liberty around the world. During the service, at the centennial hour of the Armistice (11 am), the Commission and Washington National Cathedral will lead the nation in the Bells of Peace, a national tolling of bells, in the spirit of honor and remembrance.
National Veterans Day Concert
The National Veterans Day Concert honors the men, women and families who have served our country in the Armed Forces. In 2018, as we celebrate the 100thanniversary of the Armistice, this concert will recognize events and people from World War I. Through words, music and images, join us as we celebrate the indomitable spirit of our veterans, their triumph over adversity, their resilience and their love of country.
The Washington National Cathedral Choir will be joined by “The President’s Own” United States Marine Chamber Orchestra for an evening of patriotic and contemplative music, with stories from our returning service members and their loved ones.
