Veteran Entrepreneurship Discussion
Our next meeting will feature speakers discussing veteran entrepreneurship programs and networking connections in the region.
The Entrepreneur Source
Greg Manzur, Alternative Career Coach will be in attendance and presenting on his work with The Entrepreneur Source. The E-Source is a professional coaching organization that helps individuals create economic options for their financial future through business ownership.
He’ll discuss his work to help connect veterans to entrepreneurship opportunities, including franchising. A couple of highlights from his discussion: “The process is started by ensuring that the client understands that this is a conversation and it is a safe place to learn about options. To be thinking broader, to help folks put protections in place so that they have the means to retire at some point in the future. The client can get off the bus at anytime, that as a coach, I am here to help not to sell.”
Objective Rally Point
Lee Dougherty, host of Objective Rally Point (ORP), a service-connected disabled Veteran with tours in Iraq and Afghanistan who is a Partner at the law firm of Effectus, PLLC where he practices Government Contract Law, will be in attendance to discuss ORP.
Objective Rally Point (ORP) when used in military strategy is the point where a patrol halts in order to make final preparations for the actions on its objective. The ORP networking events are based upon the spirit of this military tactic, yet in business instead of the battlefield. ORP is a place for Veterans to assemble and prepare for the objective of starting and growing successful business with the help and support of other Veterans.
ORP provides Veterans with the information and resources available in the Veteran business community that they need to maximize their opportunities. ORP creates connections for Veterans to work together through referrals, teaming arrangements, business relationships, employment opportunities and networking. We bring the camaraderie that we found in the military to the business world. ORP also offers a unique forum where government contractors looking for VOSBs and SDVOSBs to team with can connect with companies on a monthly basis. The focus is on networking but we have a speaker each month to provide inspiration and education.
WeWork Veterans in Residence Program
Keith Streicher will be in attendance and representing WeWork’s Veterans in Residence program, for the Washington DC region that partners with Bunker Labs and Capitol Post. After incubating the program in Denver, WeWork is expanding the Veterans in Residence program nationally to provide fully sponsored workspace to 10 tribes of 10 veterans across 10 cities every six months. Veterans and military spouses are eligible to apply. WeWork is also proud to announce our commitment to hiring 1500 veterans over the next five years, and will support member companies in hiring veterans as well. Additionally, any US military veteran or US military veteran-owned company with fewer than 10 employees will be eligible for partially sponsored space or a private office (up to 25% off) for their first 12 months as a WeWork member (offer available for new members only, some restrictions apply).
