Hiring Our Heroes will be hosting a Military Spouse Program Career Event on May 23 & 24, 2017. Event will include a special catered networking reception on May 23 from 7 - 9 pm at Captial One Headquarters in McLean and a hiring fair on May 24 from 10 am - 1 pm at the Fort Belvoir Community Center. Free & open to all military spouses, Gold Star spouses, military members, veterans, employers and service organizations.

This year’s summit will focus on Justice Involved veterans. We hope to bring together mental health providers from the community and the VA, along with select members of law enforcement, including judges and police. Registration is open and required.

Veterans History Project Panel Discussion on Effects of PTSD, May 24

The Veterans History Project and National Institute of Corrections explore the effects of PTSD on crime and recidivism. At noon on Wednesday, May 24, a panel of renowned experts will speak on the effects of PTSD on veterans and how the Veterans Treatment Courts (VTC) support those who have run afoul of the law by proving appropriate treatment. The panel, in honor of Memorial Day and in anticipation of National PTSD Awareness Month, will be held in room 119 on the first floor of the Library’s Thomas Jefferson Building, 10 First St. S.E., Washington, D.C. Tickets are not needed but RSVP is required. Reservations may be made by sending an email to ahub@loc.gov.

The American Legion invites all D.C. area veterans and their family members to a town hall meeting 7 p.m. on Wednesday, May 3, inside of the auditorium at the VA Hospital, 50 Irving Street NW, Washington, D.C. to discuss their VA care.

Free Dentistry Day – May 6 – Leesburg

Residents in the Leesburg community and surrounding areas will have the opportunity to receive free dental services at Neibauer Dental Care – Leesburg on Saturday, May 6. During Free Dentistry Day, a choice of one free cleaning, filling or simple extraction will be provided per patient on Saturday, May 6, between 8 a.m. and 1 p.m. at 1610 Village Market Blvd SE, Suite 130 in Leesburg.

MCB Quantico Run Amuck – June 10

Run Amuck, the MCM's messiest mud and obstacle event, offers runners arduous obstacles and plenty of mud along a four-mile course on Saturday, June 10, 2017 at Butler Stadium. Run Amuck and the scaled down two-mile version of the course, Mini Run Amuck, offer wild fun for rowdy runners (ages 8 and up), outrageous athletes and fun-loving families. Run Amuck participants will attack the mud trench, lumber through a low crawl, beat a water blast and submerge in a super sloppy mud pit, just three of 20+ challenges that await participants along the hideously hilly course tucked into the wooden terrain of Marine Corps Base Quantico.
