Time: 1:00-3:00 p.m. EDT Caring for service members, Veterans, and their families (SMVF) in crisis requires a comprehensive and coordinated approach. In the immediate period after transitioning from acute care, SMVF are at an increased risk of dying by suicide. The critical period during and after an individual’s presentation in a healthcare setting offers an opportunity to implement evidence-based crisis intervention protocols and services. Integrating the following key best practices into interagency SMVF suicide prevention plans will help to ensure high-quality suicide care for SMVF in crisis:
