Wreaths Across America – Dec 16

Join Blue Star Families and many others to remember our fallen heroes, honor those who serve, and teach the value of freedom by volunteering at Arlington National Cemetery.

Blue Star Families will be participating in Wreaths Across America on Saturday, December 16th, at 8:30 a.m. If you aren’t familiar with Wreaths Across America, you will help lay wreaths on all of the grave sites of those who have served our country.

There is no age limit to volunteer, and we encourage families to come and share the experience.

I WANT TO HELP HONOR OUR HEROES

All gates into Arlington Cemetery grounds will be opened to the public at 8:30 a.m. Wreath placement will begin at 9:15 a.m. There will also be special wreath layings at the Columbarium  at 10, at the President William F. Taft Monument in Section 30 at 10:30, at the President John F. Kennedy Memorial in Section 45 at 11, at the USS Battleship Maine Monument in Section 24 at 11:30, and a formal Wreath Ceremony at the Tomb of the Unknowns at 12:00 p.m.

Due to the limited and restricted parking requirements, we encourage volunteers to use the Blue Line Metro Rail system to the Arlington Cemetery Station stop or other nearby stations in Rosslyn or Pentagon. The Metro Rail system will open at 7 a.m.

Please note that due to the potentially high number of volunteers that may be present and for safety reasons and concerns, ANC officials have implemented some increased security requirements and screening, which will be effect on December 16th. You can expect random bag inspections and other related security screening to occur. It is suggested that you leave any large bags, knapsacks, etc. at home or in your vehicle.
