• Heroes Walk to Fly 5K September 17th

    This inspirational 1.5 mile walk and Community Block Party, sponsored by SAIC, welcomes Luke’s Wings’ supporters and beneficiaries to celebrate our wounded service members’ milestones. Starting next to Walter Reed National Military Medical Center, walkers will enjoy festivities including breakfast, energy snacks by KIND, a yoga warm-up, live music, t-shirt pick-up and more!

    The Mental Health Summit will bring together key stakeholders and community partners with the goal of enhancing access to mental health services and addressing the mental healthcare needs of Veterans and their family members. This year’s theme will be “Justice Involved Veterans”.

    The 2017 Military Spouse Career Summit will be held on Friday, October 13 & Saturday, October 14 at the Hilton in Springfield, VA. The event will include a Business Boot Camp, Speed Mentoring and Career Success Toolkit Sessions.

    The 9/11 Heroes Run 5k +1/2M family fun run/walk will be held on Saturday, September 9 at 9:00 AM at Carl Sandburg Middle School in Alexandria, VA. Runners and walkers of all levels and of all ages are welcome. Events take place all over the world, on or near September 11th, and are 100% organized by local community volunteers. It is the perfect opportunity for your community to personally come out and thank your local veterans, their families, and first responders in an annual, fun, and family friendly environment!

  • Blue Star Cares Avatar Toolkit Training – Aug 24 & 26

    Are you a caregiver? Don’t miss this unique opportunity! The caregiving team at Blue Star Families is evaluating how well an avatar-based training program can help military-connected caregivers improve their overall health and wellbeing and provide better care to their wounded warrior. If you’re a military-connected caregiver who is caring for a wounded warrior and over the age of 18, you’re invited to participate in this research study. You will receive a half day training and lunch will be provided.

    Fairfax County Veterans Collaborative on August 1, 2017 will feature a topic-driven discussion on health care for veterans in Northern Virginia.

  • 2017 DCoE Summit Registration is Now Open

    Registration is now open for the 2017 Defense Centers of Excellence for Psychological Health and Traumatic Brain Injury Summit, “Advances in the State of the Science and Best Practices.” This year’s event will provide real-time access to more than 28 hours of state-of-the-science programming, where participants can earn up to 14 hours of continuing education credits during the live event by attending psychological health sessions, TBI sessions, or a combination of both.
