Horses Help Heroes and Great Escape Stables will be holding an affordable family fun event and fundraiser on Saturday, December 29, 2018, from 11 a.m. - 2 p.m. at 17620 Central Avenue in Bowie, MD. You and your family are invited to enjoy pony rides, arts and crafts, grooming, and treats for the horses. The gracious hosts are requesting a modest donation of $10/child of non-military or veteran families and $5/child of military and veteran families.
EveryMind’s Homeless Outreach team is partnering with Montgomery County to complete the Up-County Point in Time (PIT) Homeless Count. This is a one night event on January 23, 2019 from 10 p.m. to 2 a.m. Over 40 volunteers are needed to make it successful. Consider spending a few hours to help address homelessness in Montgomery County. The results of the Count helps determine the level of services the County needs to provide to support our community’s most vulnerable members.

The Academy of United States Veterans would like all military families to join their Winter Wonder-Landing Zone on December 9, 2018 at SER Lounge in honor of The Coalition to Salute America’s Heroes. AUSV plans to honor America’s heroes in a wondrous holiday celebration during what can often be a difficult time of year for those serving our country abroad. Each December on National Wreaths Across America Day, the Wreathes Across America Mission to Remember, Honor and Teach is carried out by coordinating wreath-laying ceremonies at Arlington National Cemetery, as well as at more than 1,400 additional locations in all 50 U.S. states, at sea and abroad. Volunteers are invited to participate in this annual event on December 15, 2018 at Arlington Cemetery. Registration is required.
