The Mid-Atlantic ADA Center and TransCen, Inc. present and upcoming webinar on Welcoming Veterans with Disabilities into the Workplace. Wednesday, November 7 from 2:00 - 3:30 PM Eastern. This session is designed to educate the business community about veterans with disabilities who are transitioning to the workplace. Participants will explore how to create a welcoming environment for veterans with disabilities and learn about the unique aspects of military culture. The presenters will discuss attitudes and behaviors that can affect veterans with disabilities, and examine how that might impact employee engagement in the business culture.

Healing Waters Fly Fishing Program has started a Frederick Maryland Chapter. Are you a disabled veteran who wants to learn more about fly fishing? Healing Waters is a 501(c)(3) dedicated to the physical and emotional rehabilitation of disabled active service members and veterans through fly fishing and associated activities. Come learn more at the Frederick Chapter open house on Tuesday, October 23rd from 7:00-9:00 PM.

Expungement Clinic October 20th
Free Maryland Legal Aid expungement clinic on Saturday, October 20th from 10AM to 12PM in Clinton, MD. Being hosted by Employ Prince George's County and the Prince George's County Workforce Development Board. Registration is required.
Federal Resume Workshop
Applying for a federal job can be tedious and time-consuming. It is important to understand how you look on paper when looking for a job and this is accomplished by a strong resume. The purpose of this workshop is to teach the Ten Steps approach to apply for a federal job through USAJobs or direct hire. Multiple events available from November 2, 2018 to December 1, 2018. Registration is required.

This Veterans Day Weekend the Mount Olivet Veterans group presents several events to remember Frederick's veterans in the "Great War" at their WWI Commemoration. November 10 & 11 starting with a candlelight tour of the veteran graves at 7:30pm.
The S Word Screening October 25th
Join us on October 25th for a screening of The S Word, a ground breaking documentary that shatters the silence around suicide and reveals a movement of survivors from a cross-section of America fighting to change how we deal with our ultimate taboo. The screening will be held at the AFI Silver Theater and Cultural Center and doors open at 6pm. Advance reservation required.
Thank You for Your Service Documentary Screening
Join Hospice of Frederick County on Wednesday, 10/17 from 6 to 8 P.M. for a screening of "Thank You For Your Service", a powerful 2015 documentary by Tom Donahue that takes aim at the flawed mental health policies within the U.S. Military. The screening will be followed by a panel discussion of community mental health resources. This is a free event but space is limited and registration is recommended.

Join ServingTogether at Rise Up Against Addiction 5k Walk/Run on Saturday, October 20 at 9 am in Reston Town Center. Walk or run 5 kilometers to bring the disease of addiction into the light! Together, we can show families affected by substance use disorder that they’re not alone. Let’s unite in solidarity with other walkers and runners and support those who have lost a loved one to addiction and celebrate those who are living in recovery today. Military members, veterans and 1st Responders can use discount code SALUTE during registration to waive the runner fee (walking is free though registration is required).
