Capitol Area Food Bank Free Pop Up Grocery for Government Employees
The Capital Area Food Bank is committed to providing food for our neighbors in need, throughout the year and in unexpected moments of economic hardship. In response to the government shutdown, the Capital Area Food Bank is holding free pop-up markets for government employees and contractors affected by the shutdown. This Saturday, January 26th, CAFB will be distributing free produce, groceries and frozen meals outside of the six Giant locations below from 9:00 to 11:00 a.m. Please bring your federal ID or federal contractor ID. Additionally, Haymarket Food Pantry, a partner of the CAFB, will be distributing groceries and household/hygiene items from 12:00 to 2:00 p.m. at Gainesville United Methodist Church.
USO-Metro: Food items available for Coast Guard families
USO-Metro is working to provide pre-packaged grocery bags to Coast Guard families in the National Capital Region through their Fort Belvoir and Fort Meade locations beginning January 25.

The Veterans Curation Program will be hosting a Meeting and Greet on Thursday, 31 January 2019. The event will be held at the Alexandria VCP laboratory at 816 N. St. Asaph Street, Alexandria, Virginia. The laboratory will be open from 10:00 am until 2:00 pm.
VET ARTS Connect Art Classes for Veterans
Free art classes for Veterans through Vet Arts Connect, an initiative of the Institute for Integrative Health. Three separate classes are being offered: Improv 101 for Veterans, Storytelling for Veterans, and Veterans Ensemble @ Chesapeake Shakespeare Company. Classes are designed to improve your health and well being. Free to veterans and active duty. Registration is required.
