Dominion Energy Veterans Guitar Workshop Series

The Dominion Energy Veterans Guitar Workshop Series is free to Veterans, Servicemembers, their families, and military caregivers. The workshop series will occur on Tuesday evenings from September 3 – November 5. Level I is from 7 – 7:45 p.m., and Level II is from 8 – 8:45 p.m., as well as a guitar workshop on the afternoon of Saturday, November 9 at the Hylton Center’s annual Celebrating Veterans and the Arts event. Space is limited and registration is required.

Volunteer at Operation Tohidu

Operation Tohidu® is a free, 5-day experiential retreat program for veterans or service members that have been diagnosed with or are self-identifying post-traumatic stress, traumatic brain injury, anxiety, depression, moral injury or military sexual trauma. The program is open to veterans from across the country, from all eras and most discharge statuses.  Next week on September 4, 2019 Operation Tohidu staff needs volunteers to help prepare the Melwood Recreation Center in Nanjemoy, MD for the retreats this fall.

Behavioral Health Administration’s Recovery Month Kickoff Event

Please join the Maryland Department of Health’s Behavioral Health Administration and the University of Maryland Training Center in celebrating the Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration’s (SAMHSA) National Recovery Month Kick-off event, Join the Voices of Recovery: Together We Are Stronger. Friday, September 6, 2019, from 9:00 a.m. – 3:30 p.m. at Rice Auditorium at Spring Grove Hospital Center, 55 Wade Avenue, Catonsville, MD 21228.

Warrior 2 Soul Mate Relationship Workshops

Military service can present challenges in marriages including financial, long separation, multiple deployments and more. These challenges can add stress to family and relationship. Join the DC VA Medical Center for a Two-Day couples workshop where you will learn about emotional understanding and behaviors that nurture and sustain healthy relationships and loving families. September 14 and 15th from 8:30am - 5:00pm at the DC Vet Center. Registration is required. Open to all veterans and their partners.

Are YOU Ready to Run for EveryMind?

SUNDAY, SEPTEMBER 15, 2019. EveryMind is proud to host Run for EveryMind again this year at Rockville Town Center. We host this event every year because our mission is to raise awareness of the importance of mental health and wellness and reduce the stigma that is often associated with mental health challenges. Through Run for EveryMind, we strive to educate the community while providing an opportunity to engage in a positive, healthy activity that promotes good mental and physical health. Please join us at the 5K Run or 3K Walk. Registration is required.

Bunker Brews Street Shares Pitch Competition

Join Bunker Brews at MIC! Bunker Labs will be hosting the StreetShares Pitch Competition as part of the event. Monday, September 9th from 4:30-6:30 PM at the Washington Hilton. Bunker Labs is a national not-for-profit 501(c)(3) organization headquartered in Chicago and built by military veteran entrepreneurs to empower other military veterans to start and grow businesses. Through local chapters organized in cities across the U.S., Bunker Labs provides educational programming, mentors, events, and thriving local networks to help military veterans succeed and thrive as entrepreneurs and innovators.

Infinity Speaks Veteran Resource Day

September 27th 10:00 AM - 4:00 PM at the VFW Morningside 6527 in Morningside, MD. Resources include VBA Claims assistance, suicide prevention, minority veteran outreach, transitional housing assistance, employment assistance and more.

Veterans Claims Clinic & Resource Fair

The Chesapeake Veterans Alliance and the Department of Veterans Affairs invites veterans to a Veterans Claim Clinic and Resource Fair on Thursday, September 12th from 10am - 2pm at the American Legion Post 278 in Stevensville, MD.

2019 Virginia Veterans & Military Affairs Conference

Join senior industry, government and military leaders at the first statewide Virginia Veterans & Military Affairs Conference and learn how the Commonwealth can be the best state in the nation for our military community. Ideas and success stories will be shared on how to connect veterans and military spouses to career opportunities and strong community partners. Thursday, September 26, 2019 in Richmond, VA.
