Veterans’ Action League 2.0 Pain Management Discussion
The Veterans' Action League 2.0 is seeking individuals to help shape the future of chronic pain management in the Veteran Community. Please join them for a meeting on Saturday, 9/21 from 10:00 am - 12:00 pm in Fairfax VA to learn more about the project and how veterans in the community can participate and contribute. Eligible stakeholders include veterans, caregivers, clinicians, health system administrators, pubic health officials and policy makers. Food and compensation are included for participation.
Met Vets Acting Class for Veterans
Maryland Ensemble Theatre in conjunction with Vet Arts Connect is offering a studio-style acting class FREE of charge for all veterans of the US military. Two ten-week courses will be offered in two semesters starting September 24, 2019 and culminating in a final showing for friends and family in May 2020. Veterans will build connections to the group, gain strength in performance and preparation, and have an opportunity to build performance pieces based on personal story work. Registration required.

Suicide Prevention Educational Program Series
American Suicide Prevention in partnership with ServiceSource in Oakton, VA are offering a series of three Suicide Prevention educational programs this fall. Join them for one or more. Talk Saves Lives: An Introduction to Suicide Prevention on Thursday, 9/26. “More Than Sad: Teen Depression” on Monday, 10/14 and It’s Real: College Students and Mental Health on 11/14. These event are free. Registration is required.
Upcoming Workshops at The Steven A Cohen Clinic
Join the Steven A. Cohen Military Family Clinic at Easterseals in Silver Spring MD for two workshops on Saturday, September 28th. Connecting with Kids Workshop facilitated by the American Red Cross helps service members, veterans and families build on their person strengths to help children through challenges and transitions. 9/28 from 9-10 AM. The Art With Heart Workshop for all ages is a monthly program using art which is proven to be therapeutic for the mind, body and soul. 9/28 from 10:30 am - 12:00 pm. Registration is recommended.
Veterans Curation Program Graduation
The Veterans Curation Program is hosting a graduation ceremony for the archaeological technicians in the Alexandria VCP laboratory on Thursday, September 26th at 10:00 am. Come help celebrate the wonderful work that the technicians have done throughout the session and congratulate them on their successful graduation!

Virginia’s HIRE VETS NOW, a statewide initiative launched in the Spring of 2018, brings together transitioning service members, veterans and dedicated businesses to share in camaraderie, professional development and career networking. The next event is being held on Tuesday, September 24th from 11:30 am - 1:30 pm at the Ft. Belvoir Community Center. Registration is highly recommended.
Fairfax County Veterans Treatment Docket Graduation
All are invited to join the Fairfax County Veterans Treatment Docket on Thursday, September 26th from 2:00 - 3:00 pm as they celebrate and honor the latest group of program graduates. The Fairfax County Veterans Treatment Docket is a hybrid drug and mental health docket that serves veterans with addiction and/or mental illness and diverts veterans from the traditional criminal justice system by placing them in a specialized treatment program.

The Military Medics and Corpsmen (MMAC) Program provides civilian employment and education pathways in Virginia for transitioning Medics and Corpsmen worldwide.
