ServingTogether continues to monitor the COVID-19 protocols put out by the CDC, DoD, Pentagon, and the 15 jurisdictions we serve. At this time and due to the virtual capabilities of the ServingTogether network, we do not anticipate a disruption of services in our coordination center and support network. Because COVID-19 response is fluid, please follow our FB page for updates to our providers’ response, increased needs in the community we serve, and ramping up of specific services. Veteran Business Pop-Up Shop & Food Truck Rodeo – Postponed!

POSTPONED! The Veteran Business Pop-Up is the first event of its kind showcasing our nations hero’s. Come out and support local veteran and military spouse owned businesses. There will be Food Trucks, door prizes, live music, head shots, woodworking, jewelry, food and wine pairing and family fun.

NAMI Homefront Registration Open

NAMI Homefront is a free, 6-session program for family, friends and significant others of military Service Members and Veterans. The class helps families understand what the Service Member/ Veteran is experiencing related to trauma, combat stress, civilian life transition, PTSD and other mental health conditions.

VA-ACME Scholarship Opportunity

This year, more than one million service members, veterans and their families are enrolled in college courses. With that in mind, the Virginia Advisory Council on Military Education (VAACME) continues a commitment to supporting education within the Virginia military and veteran community. They are pleased to announce that VA-ACME will award multiple $1,000 scholarships. The application deadline is April 3, 2020.

Be SMART: Talking to your children about gun safety

The Be SMART campaign was created to bring together all responsible adults to reduce suicides and the number of unintentional shootings that occur when children get ahold of an unsecured firearm. The Be SMART program, designed to prevent these shootings, recognizes that responsible storage by adult gun owners is essential to preventing unauthorized, unsupervised access to firearms by children.

March is Brain Injury Awareness Month

The Department of Defense and the Military Health System recognizes March each year as Brain Injury Awareness Month to increase awareness of traumatic brain injuries, and the Department’s efforts to improve its ability to identify, care for, and treat service members and veterans who are affected by TBI.
