Veterans Curation Program Meet & Greet Jan 23rd
The Veterans Curation Program in Alexandria VA invites you to their Meet & Greet on Thursday, January 23rd from 10:00 AM - 2:00PM. Visit at your leisure during that time. The VCP provides vocational rehabilitation and innovation training to twelve recently separated veterans using archaeological collections administered by the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers. Come out and meet the veterans currently enrolled in the program and learn more about the VCP.
Wreaths Across America Cleanup-January 11
Volunteers Needed! Join Wreaths Across America on January 19th from 8:00 AM to 11:00 AM to volunteer and help retrieve/remove the 265,000+ wreaths that were placed at Arlington National Cemetery on December 15, 2019. Thousands of volunteers are needed and you are welcome to be part of our Washington, DC History & Culture team or help out on your own. This event is open to the public and all are welcome including children, families and groups. Registration is requested.
Veterans Needed for Service Dog Research Study
The University Of Maryland School Of Nursing has partnered with Warrior Canine Connection to conduct a research study on how training service dogs might affect PTSD and stress in veterans with PTSD. The study is currently seeking veterans to participate by training service dogs for other veterans dealing with PTSD. Participants will be compensated for their time.

Ceramics and Glass Flame Working Classes
Are you an Active Duty, Retired, or Veteran Service Member wishing to learn the Art of Pottery and Ceramics or Glass Flame-working alongside other Service Members in a caring, educational and fun environment? The Workhouse Arts Center still has space available for their upcoming Ceramics and Glass Flameworking classes which will begin in January 2020. Classes are held at their facility in Lorton, VA. Veterans Open House Jan 12
Veterans, Military Personnel, Family and Friends are Warmly Invited to an Evening of Food, Fellowship, and Storytelling hosted by The Veterans & Military Ministry of Blessed Sacrament Parish. Sunday, January 12th from 5:00-8:00 PM in Washington DC. The Parish will also be collecting gloves and reading glasses for veterans receiving outpatient services at the VA Hospital in Washington, DC.
National Veterans Creative Arts Festival
Entries are being accepted for the National Veteran Creative Arts Festival now through January 21, 2020. Across the country each year, Veterans enrolled at VA health care facilities compete in a local creative arts competition. Do you have a talent in the area of art, creative writing, dance, drama or music? Find out more about entering this year's competition. (Competition will take place February 11 & 12, 2020.)
Veteran Apprenticeship Opportunities
Are you a veteran interested in apprenticeships? The office of Washington DC Apprenticeship Information and training will host information sessions on Mondays and Tuesdays (beginning 12/2/19) for interested veterans to learn more about apprenticeship opportunities and to sign up. National Wreathes Across America Day December 14th
December 14th is National Wreaths Across America Day. It is not too late to sign up to help lay wreathes at our local cemeteries in order to remember, and honor those who have given their lives in service of our Country. Wreath-laying ceremonies on Sat 12/14 will take place at Arlington National Cemetery as well as at more than 1,400 additional locations in all 50 U.S. states, at sea and abroad. Volunteers are invited to participate in this annual event. Registration is required.
