The Poetry of Memory Workshop November 17th

How do we create meaning from memory? The best poetry is written about what we know, and this class will look at how to successfully craft poems out of specific memories. This workshop will take place at the Capitol Post office (625 N Washington St. Ste #425, Alexandria, VA 22314) from 10 AM - 2 PM on Saturday, November 17.  There are a few spaces remaining for this workshop. The session is open to/free for all spouses of service members (active and reserve) and veterans. Applications required.

OSC Launches Veteran Mentor Program

Operation Second Chance has launched a veteran mentor program. The program is designed to ensure the mental, physical and financial readiness of veterans and their families post separation or retirement from the military. Applications for both mentors and mentees are now being accepted.

Military Appreciation Day at the Washington National Opera

November 25, 2018 is Military Appreciation Day at the Washington National Opera. The Washington National Opera would like to salute US active duty service members with complementary tickets and light refreshments. RSVP is required.

A Salute to Women Veterans November 16

On Friday, November 16 from 10:00 AM - 1:00 PM in Cheverly, MD join Senator Chris Van Hollen and others for a forum to honor women who dedicated their lives to service of this country. This Forum will feature an update from Capital Hill and offer information on navigating challenges encountered by women in the military. RSVP required.

Engage & Retain Veterans in Your Workforce – A Round Table Discussion

Are you an employer with a veteran employee base? Are you a company interested in hiring veterans? How do you support veterans once they are hired? On Friday, November 9th Adventist HealthCare LifeWork Strategies will host an intimate round table discussion with veteran subject-matter experts on a variety of topics including: engagement & retention initiatives, inclusion programming, and employee resource groups. Male Health Symposium November 10th

Healing Waters Frederick Event Oct 23rd

Healing Waters Fly Fishing Program has started a Frederick Maryland Chapter. Are you a disabled veteran who wants to learn more about fly fishing? Healing Waters is a 501(c)(3) dedicated to the physical and emotional rehabilitation of disabled active service members and veterans through fly fishing and associated activities.
