Military Spouse Networking - Bethesda - April 11. Join the USO and Steven A Cohen Military Family Clinic at Easterseals for a fun, fast paced speed networking session for military spouses in the Washington D.C. and local military community. April 11th from 10:00AM-2:00PM at 1420 Spring Street, Suite 300, Silver Spring, MD. Learn about the USO, the art of networking, create and practice your personal or professional elevator pitch and speed network with other military spouses, employers, organizations, and community leaders. All participants will walk away meeting new friends, contacts, and professionals. Military Spouses, Organizations, Community Leaders, and Hiring Employers are encouraged to attend. Into the Light Live Events

Hear a story. Tell a story. Change the story. Give an Hour is hosting two live events in conjunction with the film, Into the Light. Join GAH for a Facebook Live event on Tuesday, April 3rd at 12pm EST and for a Twitter Chat on Thursday, April 26th at 1pm EST. "Into the Light focuses on Brendan O’Toole, a former Marine, and his struggle to assimilate back into society after returning from war and Dr. Barbara Van Dahlen, founder and president of Give an Hour, as she comes to the realization that she needs to share her own story."

VEI Vetworking Military, Veterans & Spouses

Transitioning from the military to a civilian career is a real challenge, which is why mentoring and community support is crucial to the success of any Veteran hiring effort. The Northern Virginia Technology Council's Veteran Employment Initiative VETWORKING program provides transitioning military members, Veterans including student Veterans, Guard and Reserve and their spouses with a free career transition education and personal growth experience necessary to succeed in gaining civilian employment. April 19th and April 26th. 5:00-8:00 PM for both sessions. Tysons Corner, VA. Registration is required.

Howard County Veteran Resource Fair

Tuesday, April 10th from 5:00-8:00pm in Laurel, MD. An event to provide local veterans the opportunity to meet with businesses and non-profit organizations dedicated to providing services, support and jobs to veterans. All Active, Guard and Reserve veterans are invited to attend.

VA Launches Personalized, Proactive, Patient-driven Care

The DC VA Medical Center is holding "Introduction of Whole Health" sessions starting Wednesday, 3/21. Whole Health, also known as “Personalized, Proactive, Patient-driven Care,” is an approach to health care that empowers and equips Veterans to take charge of their health and well-being and to live their life to the fullest. Whole Health includes conventional treatment as well as complimentary approaches that foster self-empowerment, self-healing, and self-care. Upcoming informational sessions dates include 3/21, 3/28, 4/11 and 4/25/18. Registration is required.

Parenting Skills Group

Saturday, April 14th from 9:00-10:30am at the Steven A. Cohen Military Family Clinic at Easterseals in Silver Spring, MD. Collaborative & Proactive Solutions (CPS) is a non-punitive and non-adversarial evidence-based treatment that helps children and caregivers solve problems together. In this group, you will learn how to apply this approach in your family and improve your child’s behavior. This is a no cost event. Registration is required.

American Humane Shelter to Service Program

American Humane has recently launched the Shelter to Service program to provide service dogs for Veterans with service-related PTS and TBI and is looking for looking for veterans who have been diagnosed with PTS and TBI as a result of their military service and are interested in receiving a service dog to help with their symptoms.

DC Strategy Session #2

Join ServingTogether, the Institute for Veterans and Military Families (IVMF), and community providers serving veterans, service members and their families in DC for Strategy Session #2 of the AmericaServes initiative. Friday, March 23rd from 10 am - 1 pm at the DC Mayor's Office of Veteran Affairs. During this community session, we are convening providers and partners to discuss coordinating care in our community. Our goal is to better serve our military-connected community members, and we will be discussing the AmericaServes solution in more depth. Registration is required.

A free event to include a panel of experts to discuss challenges facing military veterans and their families and the resources needed to support them in the future.
