Suit Drive for Veterans and Military Spouses – Now until July 20

AbleVets is hosting a Suit Drive to support Veterans and military spouses during their transition to the civilian workforce. Now through July 20, we are collecting gently used professional clothing to be collected at various locations in Northern Virginia and the National Capital Region.

FREE Picnic honoring Veterans and their Families – July 7

Melwood Veteran Services will be holding a FREE picnic lunch honoring veterans and their families on Saturday, July 7 at Nottingham Land Farm. Along with a picnic lunch there will also be horse rides, hay rides, face painting and a scavenger hunt - all for FREE for veterans and their families.

Veteran Spousal Support Group starting July 24

Virginia Department of Veteran Services Virginia Veteran and Support will be starting a Veteran Spousal Support Group every 4th Tuesday of the Month Beginning July 24, 2018 from 6:00 pm – 8:00 pm at Fairfax DVS Office (9990 Fairfax Blvd, Suite 120, Fairfax, VA 22030). Spousal Support Groups are facilitated by veteran family members and are designed to address the needs of veteran spouses and caregivers by providing a relaxed and confidential environment to share post-military and transition experiences with other spouses.

Honor Flight DCA is seeking Volunteer Guardians – Training Session July 17

Midnight Pilgrimage for Veterans

Join Vet Church and the Veterans Spirituality Ministry at Washington National Cathedral for a late night pilgrimage at the Cathedral. Gathering outside the cathedral just before midnight, we'll undertake a journey of healing, connection, and blessing as we move into the building and are led in periods of silence and song, guided reflection and shared prayer. Those of all faiths and none are welcome.

Garden of Jokes – A Veterans Comedy Show

Up Top Acres and the Armed Services Arts Partnership (ASAP) are joining forces once more to host another special Veterans Comedy Show at one of Up Top's rooftop farms. This performance will feature comedians who have graduated from ASAP's Comedy Bootcamp program, the first stand-up comedy class in the country for veterans. The event will provide a platform for veteran comedians to showcase their talents and tell their hilarious stories in front of members of the DC community. Saturday, June 23rd from 7:30-10:00PM. Tickets are $15.
