Maryland's Commitment to Veterans would like to invite you to register for their Eastern Region Conference to be held June 25th at 8:00 am to 4:00 pm at the Hyatt Regency Chesapeake Bay Golf Resort, Spa And Marina. Topics this year include, military culture awareness, veteran benefits and as well as Opioid use in the Veteran population. In addition there will be a homeless services panel, and a panel of experts to discuss aging as it relates to veterans and their families. lunch provided as well as 5.5 CEU's for anyone who indicates their interest on registration. PTSD & Traumatic Brain Injury: Differences between Male & Female Veterans

This cyberseminar will take place on June 18th from 2:00-3:00pm ET. The Cyberseminar will cover: a. The changes in the role of the female Veteran over time; b. The incidence of PTSD and TBI among Veterans and literature on sex differences; c. Discuss the findings of sex differences from this study among Veterans with PTSD and TBI and how this may affect treatment.

Free Webinars Hosted by OPM

Beginning May 30th the Office of Personnel Management (OPM) will be hosting free webinars about the process of applying for employment with the federal government. If you or someone you know is interested in working for the federal government, then these webinars will be of interests. All session are free. However, they are limited to 1,500 participants each. Webinars held on a variety of dates throughout June. Registration is required.

SMVF Opioid Addiction: Increasing Access to Prevention, Treatment, and Recovery

Service members and Veterans are often treated with prescription opioid medication for pain relief from their service-related injuries. Recognizing that there is an increased risk for abuse and addiction, implementing evidence-based prevention, treatment, and recovery strategies are critical. This webinar will address best practice methods of preventing opioid abuse, treating those experiencing addiction, and supporting service members and Veterans in recovery. Prince George's County Office of Veteran Affairs and Lawyers Serving Warriors present "Know Your Rights Information Session and Discharge Upgrade Clinic: on May 17 from 9:30 AM - 3:30 PM. Attend an informational session on corrections of military records and upgrading less than fully honorable discharges followed by individual consultations with attorneys. Walk ins welcome.

Maryland’s Commitment To Veterans Southern MD Conference

Join Maryland's Commitment to Veterans (MCV) and the team from Melwood Veteran Services' Operation Tohidu for this year's MCV Southern Maryland Conference. This year’s Conference will cover several topics concerning veteran behavioral health from various perspectives. Lunch will be provided, and an additional 5.75 Continuing Education Units will be available to all attendees who indicate this on the eventbrite registration. This event is being held at the Operation Tohidu Retreat grounds. Participants will have the opportunity to tour the facility. Wednesday, May 15th from 8:00AM - 4:00PM. Career Transition Education thru VEI Vetworking

Launched in 2013, the NVTC Veterans Employment Initiative (VEI) connects Veterans and military spouses to employment opportunities and provides support to member companies in their efforts to recruit, hire, train and retain qualified Veteran and military spouse employees. The next cohort of the VEI Vetworking for Military, Veterans and Spouses will be on May 23 and May 30th. The program is broken down into two sessions of three hours each. Each session runs from 5-8 pm and dinner is provided. There is a maximum of 25 per cohort and once signed up you must commit to attending both sessions. Registration is open now.

Survivors of Suicide Attempt Support Group

June 9th through August 4th at EveryMind in Rockville, MD. This 8 week closed group will be co-facilitated by two leaders trained in the Didi Hirsch support group model.
