Opioid Epidemic Workshop with Congressman David Trone

A workshop hosted by Congressman David Trone to discuss ow the opioid epidemic has affected residents of the 6th Maryland district and the steps to combat addiction. The workshop will feature a panel discussion of leading experts in the field. There will also be representatives from local and regional organizations who will provide resources and information regarding the opioid epidemic.

Manassas National Battlefield Park Apprenticeship

The Manassas National Battlefield Park is offering an apprenticeship program for Post 9/11 Veterans ages 18-35 years of age. This program provides post-9/11 military service veterans hands-on skills training from NPS professionals, focusing on the maintenance and care of monuments, memorials, and structures in the National Park Service system. Apprentices will receive introductory training in a variety of traditional trades and will develop an understanding of historic resource stewardship while helping to preserve our nation’s historic resources. This program provides apprentices with marketable skills and excellent exposure to the historic preservation career field within the NPS as well as the private sector. Applications now being accepted until filled.

Babies on the Homefront Workshop

Caregiving While Caring for Your Young Child. Are you a parent or guardian caring for a baby or toddler? The VA Caregiver Support Line and ZERO TO THREE have collaborated to present a workshop in support of Military and Veteran Families who are also caring for the needs of young children. This workshop by ZERO TO THREE will provide tools and resources to support you as a parent, help you understand your child’s development, and appreciate what your child is trying to tell you in those oh-so challenging moments. Join us in this partnership as we support you in balancing the needs of your family while also caring for the blossoming developments of your “Babies on the Home front!” This online webinar will take place on Thursday, April 4th at 7:00pm. The workshop is free but registration is required. There is a phone in option for those unable to be online at the time of the webinar.

NAMI Homefront Now Offered Online!

NAMI Homefront is a class for families, caregivers and friends of military service members and veterans with mental health conditions. The course is designed specifically to help these families understand those challenges and improve their ability to support their service member or veteran. Online modules of the courses are now being offered. Registration is now open form the April 15th course.
